On Saturday April 16th Carolynne and I attended my first BME BBQ in Raleigh, NC with Carolynne. We had an awesome time and Sporko was a great host. I can't wait to attend again.

The day started off with us leaving SC at 7 am. Gosh, it was early for me. We made the 4 hour trip up to Raleigh and arrived at Umstead Park. We met up with Trevor, Leann, and many other BME folks at the shelter. Around 11am, there were just a couple of us and Sporko was grilling up some burgers.

After a while the people started filing in. I felt like I was among friends and individuals like myself. At this point, Trevor was trying to figure out a way to set up for suspensions. We finally found a way to conserve six inches and be able to suspend from the beams above us.

The first suspensions were a 4 point suicide and a Lotus suspension at the same tame between a beautiful married couple. They had a great experience. I pulled up a number of people throughout the day, a day I will not soon forget! Later on through the day we had an awesome pull, so awesome that a hook came out. Such force was put on it that the hook caused about a ¼ inch tear. Wow.

After pulling up a number of people a park ranger came up and told us that we had to stop suspending and pulling. I guess the mullet haired woman just wanted her picnic basket.

After this, we tried to find a place that we could suspend. Sporko volunteered his place if we could make it work, so Trevor and Sporko went to his house to figure it out. They ended up making a rig between two trees chained together. After waiting for the call to come to Sporko's house, it was finally time to leave.

We went over to Sporko's house, which was about 20 minutes away, and got set up. Many people suspended and pulled while we were there. It all went very well! The neighbors even came over to watch!

After all of this, it was finally time for my turn. I could not decide whether I wanted to do a 6 point suicide or a knee suspension. I finally decided on the knee suspension.

Trevor prepped me with Technicare and got out all of the piercing supplies. The first hook went through like butter. Trevor leaned over to grab some more Technicare, and the leg of his shorts caught on my first hook. It scared the heck out of me when I heard the rip! I thought my flesh had ripped! After receiving my courage from above, I looked down. Everything was fine with just a little bit of blood and no tear. The other five piercings went really well. The only problem was the inside hook on my right leg was a bit higher than the one on the other leg, I would learn of the complications from this in a couple of minutes.

I took a couple of moments and drank some water while they suspended a couple other people, then it was my turn! I went over and found my rig and Chris hooked it up while rigging me up. After a couple of minutes it was show time, or so I thought. Vic was holding my rope. I asked him to put some pressure on the rope...the piercing in the right leg felt really tight. Knowing that it would cause some problems, I told him to pull me up. He did it at the right speed while Chris held my hands helping me up. The pain was so intense, unlike my last knee suspension; I had to come down after about 10 seconds.

After I got on the ground I was so upset with myself, but I could not do it. Even though I did not live up to what I thought I would, all of the people cheered for me, a sign of true friendship that only the modified can understand. There will be a next time.

I was so happy to meet a number of new people; people I hope will be friends for a long while. The girls truly rocked out this event. People like Sporko, Thorn, disfucktion, onega (who did the Lotus), b16agirl (lost the hook), and immortalninjette (who was involved in the pull which pulled out the hook), Vic, Trevor, Leann, Chris, Bryce, Carolynne, and countless others made this event what it was. Oh yeah, lets not forget the Park Ranger! I would like to thank Sporko for hosting the event, and everyone from my team, Holy City Suspensions, for all of their hard work. Info on our team which is out of Charleston, SC can be found at www.holycitysuspensions.com.

I really can not wait to meet more people next year, and I hope that they come down to suspend with us sometime soon! I would really like to appreciate all who attended and helped make my first event one of the best times of my lives, thanks so much. Also, a thanks to Glider, Mil0, and the rest of the BME crew for giving us a forum which we are able to meet others like us, and to be able to become friends with them.

Honestly, a heart felt thank you to all who was mentioned above and at the BBQ.
