I have always been interested in certain "alternative" lifestyles. The mundane world in which I grew up didn't offer much of an outlet for any sort of break from the norm. When I hit my early teen years, I began to experiment with piercing myself and a little bloodletting. As I got a little older (into the mid-teens) I realized how unsafe this practice is and made an attempt at slaking my pain/pleasure lust by tattooing. 20 years old and several tattoos later.....Needless to say, that did NOT cut it either. It's hard for someone outside the circle to understand WHY a person feels the needs to feel that kind of pain. Too many assume it is psychological, rather than seeing it for what it is: a fetish, of sorts.

This past December I met a man (we will call him X to preserve his privacy) at a music venue with whom I hit it off immediately. After confessing my "urges", he began to tell me about play piercing, which is something I had never heard of. Play piercing isn't permanent, and is done solely for pleasure. To be honest, I was not the least bit put off by the prospect of needles + pain = pleasure. Over the course of several weeks, we met and discussed different types of piercings and the logistics involved. It's not a decision one comes to lightly or quickly, and is one that I would not have considered had I not completely trusted X. Eventually we settled on series of surface piercings along my back.

The second weekend of February was to be our date. X did everything he could to make me comfortable once that day arrived. He had me lay down on a foam-padded table and massaged my muscles to relax me a bit. Then we marked the piercing points in front of a full length mirror. The left and right points spaced 3 and a half inches apart going down, starting 4 inches from the nape of my neck. The space between the left and right rows spanned 10 inches at the top, then gradually tapering toward the bottom. We used 20 gauge needles, and note that everything was thoroughly disinfected. The first needle went in, and it was pure pleasure. As cliche as it sounds, up until that point something had always been missing. But KNOWING that X had complete control over my body, and the power to mar or improve me was in his hands solely was utterly incredible. We did 6 more needles before he asked if I wanted a break. Bear in mind, I was standing for the entire procedure. My knees were weak and my heart rate was irregular. I did, indeed, need a break.

20 minutes later we began again. And the left column was finished. Each needle was capped with a sterile cork. The corking is relatively painful, but a necessity for safety purposes. For the right column, I chose to lay down and watch myself in the mirror. Again, X began at the top and gradually worked his way down. It's near impossible to lay still during this. The urge to squirm or twitch is almost uncontrollable. However, you must control it, otherwise you're defeating the purpose of the endeavor. By the 8th needle, my muscles were pretty sore from holding my position, so I focused everything on the feel of the needles. They tingled and burned, in a good way. The right column was finished, and X helped me up to my feet. I smoked a cigarette and waited for my pulse rate to go back to normal. Then I spent a good 30 minutes admiring my back.

We left the needles in for a couple of hours; long enough to take pictures and regain our wind. Walking around with them in was a bit stiff, and I had to be careful not to twist the wrong way. Still, I was able to sit and move without too much difficulty. Taking them out wasn't nearly as much fun as having them put in. Since then we've dabbled in play 3 times more, but nothing as large scale as my 18 surface piercings along my back. No scars were left, to which I am grateful. X knew what he was doing, and NEVER attempt this without sterile equipment and a professional. I am currently X's apprentice (among other things), and am looking forward to assuming the dominant role sometime in the future. The role of the sub is one I'd recommend to anyone with such a nature, however I can't stress the importance of safety and sterilization enough. I hope my story helps and gives you a bit of insight into the whys and hows of something that usually makes people go "ew! why?!".
