My buddy Justin messaged me about doing a suspension. We took pictures of each other, so check out our pages or the Suicide Suspension Gallery I've already been asking around about when and where one is going to be. So I immediatly agreed to go with. No questions asked.

It was the Virgin Sacrifice by iHung.org. Me and Justin got there late. About 30 minutes late, but they hadn't started yet anyway. So we flashed our ID's and filled out the paper work. I had to hit the pisser and while waiting to go in they asked who was going first. I immediatly volunteered. "Just let me go in here first so I don't wet myself."

Anyway, I took off my shirt and proceded to get marked up. (NOTE: iHung.org was very clean and extremely sterile. Little face masks and all that jazz.) Jeremiah and Darrin were the ones poking me. After carefully marking me and making sure they were correct, I laid on the table.

Here come the big ol' needles! They did them two at a time. I've heard that two piercings at the same time hurts just as much as one. I believe this to be very true. The human mind can't comprehend multiple pains at once, or something like that. I'm half just talkin' out of my ass there. Anyway, second two go in just as easily. They felt as if a stinging heat flushed through my flesh. The pain faded quite quickly. Pain builds character, this experience built some character aswell. I get up, waltz about for a bit. Then they lower the rig a bit and string me up.

I did the "walk into" approach to being lifted. It was quite an odd feeling. I didn't feel the hooks in my back as much as I felt my feet lifting off the ground and me losing control of my body. Then I was swinging effortlessly. What a grand feeling. I can fly!

It took me a second to figure out how to shift my weight. But, once I did I was swingin' and spinnin' (although there was no swivel) like a champ! Then Jason asked if I wanted an underdoggy. I wasn't up for it yet. Then after dangling a bit more, "How 'bout that underdoggy?" OH MAN! That is the best part! It's so much fun to swing like that! I couldn't kiss the dragon like Ian did. He was the second to pull it off, and he frenched that motha!

The aftermath? Some soreness for the first few days. Most of the air pockets get massaged out. That's an experience on its own! Rice krispies! My back was sore for about two days and after that they heal up nicely. Right now I'm a week into healing and the worst is some slight itching from time to time. I hate it when people say "That'll leave a scar!" As if a scar is the end of the world? What harm do scars do anyway. Cripe people, chill out. You know the type, "Did that hurt?", "Why would you do that to yourself?" I call those people "Mom". Ok, that's a lie, I call my mom by her name. But, you get the idea.

Woah, I got way off track there, where was I? Oh yeah, the pain is not much of a factor when you're hanging or in healing. The only moment of real pain is during the exact moments that the needles are entering your flesh. Even seconds after they are done piercing you, the momentary pain subsides. And the rush you get right beforehand makes up ten fold for that pain. My knees were shaking from adreniline and exitement.

Coming down is interesting too. It's half a relief and half a dissapointment. When your feet hit the floor and you have full body weight again, you feel really heavy. It also feels like there are weights on your back. Floating free like that is like being an astronought. I suggest being lowered to the point that when your feet touch the ground your knees are bent quite a bit so you have to actually stand up. Otherwise you don't have proper balance. That's just me kinda guessing though. It's what I did. If they lower you slowly (as they do) and you put all your body weight on your feet as soon as you can the false weight might knock you over. Try it and get back to me.

I will certainly be suspending again. My next suspension will be a two point knee suspension. It should be much fun. If you know of a suspension coming to SE Michigan or remotely near this area please tell me, Thank you. -Marty
