It all started when I saw
Jordan Article about
Sub Clavicle
piercing. I knew on a side that there was no way I'd dare to heal such a
piercing since some people had them for 2 years, and it was still not healed...
and I don't have the patience, nor the determination to withstand such extended
period of time! But on the other hand, it was looking so awesome, so strange... so
appealing!
I had the opportunity to speak about it with
Efix, and it was obvious off the bat
that he wouldn't do such piercing. Because of the problems it may leads into,
and the complexity of the piercing (especially on these for the piercee).
However. I kept the idea in mind, and with time I tried to find alternatives. I
first looked into the well known clavicle surface piercing... I liked it, but it
was still not exactly what I was looking for. As days were passing on, I got
over Efix's page, and saw the
dermal anchors he did on Oli. I
figured that it would work for the clavicles. Having a bead on each side of the
bone, but since it's only in the first few layers of the skin; it would be able
to heal. And according to the article I've read on the
Anchors, they
were apparently more stable than surface piercing.
I gave a call to Efix and spoke about the different avenues
I was looking into, and he agreed on anchors. The idea was set, the pro agreed,
but the actual question is when I would get over his studio!
Time went by and I ended up having a very bad time. I
needed to get a break from my job, my place... A place where I could be myself... I
called Efix, fixed up some details, and I was on my way. I drove to his studio,
witch was very nice drive! Got lost in the city... but finally found my way down
town. I walked in the shop to confirm to Efix that I was in town, and he told me
that he'd be ready in two hours. I went for a lunch, and some window shopping...
And walk back there.
Like the usual he was still fixing the few last minutes
details... Once everything was ready, autoclaved, got the dermal punches and
everything, we were ready to go. I first pointed out where I'd like the anchors
to be. He marked the placement, moved them around about 4 or 5 times. The he had
to match the other side... witch was a bit hard since no human being is perfectly
symmetrical, and I am just a normal being with a clavicle lower than the other!
But Efix mark them perfectly in accordance with the other side. I lay down and
started to get nervous. I was, like always, wondering why I got involved in that
project!
After a few minutes of elaborating on why I got myself in
there, Efix threw some analgesic agent. He took a piercing needle and poke
asking if I was feeling anything. I did felt a bit, but figured it was normal,
so I said it was OK. He dermal punched in a 14 ga hole, took a 14ga taper, and
slowly started the dermal elevation. The feeling was awkward, not painful, but
unpleasant. I was feeling the cold steel of the tool next to the hole, but not
the tip of it witch had become the temperature of my body. The feeling was the
same has when you take the jewelry off a fresh piercing, and put a new one,
looking for the exit hole... But because of the analgesic it was not has painful,
just annoying. A few minutes later he fitted the anchor, it was not quite deep
enough. He works the pocket once again and it fitted right. I had to lift my
arms, do circles with my shoulders... move around to see how it would sit. He
cleaned the blood and I went to see... I was amazed! It looked so darn good! I
jumped back on the table, and we proceeded with the second one!
He put back some analgesic. Poke with the play piercing
needle... I did feel it a bit so he threw on some more. Re poke, I was barely
feeling it, and it was a go. He punched, elevated, and I didn't feel a thing! I
was like surprised that it could work that efficiently! I was laughing my ass
off. He fitted the anchor, took it out, stretched the pocket, fitted, and
increased the pocket... on and on. It might have taken like 6 or 7 fitting, if not
more to get it right. Beside the fact the little triangle over the clavicle is
an awkward place to work, the skin is very stretchy, and it needed a pocket
about twice the size of the anchor so it would fit properly. Move my arms up and
down, made circles with my shoulders frontward and backward... Efix turned around
for a second, and before he could clean it I was already heading for the mirror!
I wanted to see! But he told me to lay back down to clean it, and I was then
allowed to go see. It was the most amazing sight I had in a long time! Look like
a sub clavicle piercing, but without the ½" of the bar sticking out! Almost like
a healed sub clavicle...
We took a break, and I had the opportunity to show Vinz and
Jay, they were stunt by it, and by the fact that I kept on spinning my shoulder
back and forth! I mean it was not painful at all! I also wanted to see if one
was coming out since it was the best time for something like that to happen...
A few minutes later and we were off for the other side. I
chose to start with the top one has it was a bit more tricky. Procedure was like
the previous ones; analgesic, poking, punching and pocketing... without feeling
it. The only real disturbing thing was the sound that the elevation made... it was
a "toc" every time Efix would elevate the skin. The sound was almost like
someone cracking its finger... Disturbing, trust me. But since it was Efix, I knew
it couldn't be a bad thing. Even if I was thinking he was hitting my bone (witch
is technically impossible since he was going away from it, and there is tissues
between the sub layer of skin and the bone). He created the pocket; fit the
anchor on and on... until it was perfect. The exercise routine followed, I jumped
off the bed before he, once again, called me back. Once cleaned I looked in the
mirror and I was in urge to get the final and last one.
You must know the routine by now; analgesic, punch, dermal
elevation, laughs, fitting, elevation, fitting, exercise routine... I jumped on
the floor before being called back again... Efix cleaned the area, and I was
finally able to see the results... AMAZING! It was simply amazing! I kept them
uncovered to show to Efix's girlfriend (and to as much people has possible). I
finally had to leave the shop after my navel was done. So Efix Put a gauze over
them and I left.
The first night was a pain in the ass... I'm a belly sleeper,
but I lay on my back so there would be less stress on my anchors. Sadly I
couldn't get to sleep. I finally turned on my stomach and fell asleep on the
spot. Next morning I had sore shoulder... My only real difficulty was to put on a
shirt. But once I was dress, and ate breakfast, I drove back home. I was a
little worried about the seat belt, but since I'm skinny and tall, I was able to
sit about an inch behind the belt, so it wouldn't be bothered.
I believe it was 2 or 3 days after the procedure, one of
the anchors simply fell off. I was checking on them, when I notice there was
more than a bead! (Writing this, I'm checking on them again) When I gave a look
at it, about 75% of the anchor was out from its emplacement. The inner curve was
out and everything... I tried to push it back in, but I couldn't handle the pain,
and it didn't want to get back in! I pulled it out, some blood leaked out of the
hole... I was so sad that it fell off... Yet I had 3 more to heal!
I noticed in the next few days, the beads were somewhat
elevated from the skin, but it was about it. I bumped them a few times around,
but never enough to take them out of their piercings.
About 2 weeks after the procedure, the top one remaining
tried to escape too, but it was barely 40% out. The curve was still in, so I
forced it back in. I put a tape and it stayed back in place. It did an awful lot
of crusties compared to the other anchors... but there was no way I let another
one give up on me! About 4 days later it tried me again in my sleep. I forced it
back in place, it was not painful or anything. It got red for a day or two and
some excess crusties, but it's about it.
3 weeks into the healing, I'm still waiting to get to
Quebec to get the remaining one done! It really looks awesome. I'm a little
worry that it rejects... But I think my fear should be more onto the walkout since
the top ones are trying to play that trick on me!
