Well, as we all seem to start off. I got the 'itch'. Oh yes, you know the one I'm talking about..... I got up one Saturday morning, and decided, I wanted another piercing (O.K, maybe I'd been thinking about it for a few days before)....... Hmmmm, decisions, decisions....oh what to have next?? There are so many that I'm wanting at the moment...

I had been looking on BME, and decided I wanted something else done on my ear. I decided on a scaffold (industrial bar in the U.S). I like the look of them, they're gorgeous, and quite unusual here in the U.K.

So, off I trotted, down to Hex, in Blackburn (England). Some of you may have read my other story, about my sternum bar that went wrong, but Jason at Hex fixed for me (eternally grateful!!), and as you can see, I'm true to my word, and will continue to use Hex for any future piercings... anyway....

Went into Hex, and saw Jason, got told off for keep calling it an 'industrial bar' !! But he knew what I meant, so its all good!!

I waited until the room was ready, everything sterilised etc (which makes you feel 100% better before you start!) In I went, lied down on the chair (which is most definitely like a dentist chair, I know exactly what folk on here mean!) Had a bit of a natter with Jason, and on we got with the piercing. Now, I've heard many horror stories about it from here, but my experience was far from that. It is a painful piercing, as its done so slowly, and also theres more than one piercing to do. But, it ain't really that bad. Contradicted myself there didn't I??? Its bearable, but this is coming from a bird who doesn't mind pain!! ;0) !! I think I could quite easily say that when I had my nose pierced with a needle, it hurt like hell (see!! now you think I'm a soft arse!!) This one was no where like that.

The first hole at the top of my ear didn't really bother me, but the next one (you know the saying, the panicking and scaring yourself to death, is often a hell of a lot worse than the experience itself!!) hurt a wee bit more, but it was done before I knew it really. Took a look in the mirror, oh my god, it rocked!!! I loved it!! My ear was bright red, but who's arsed about that??

Anyway, I thanked Jason, and Claire at Hex, and off I trotted with my lolly (SUGAR!!!)

For the 1st couple of days, it hurt like hell!! My ear was very red, and painful as f***!! I kept waking up in the night, as I'd rolled over onto that side, jumping outta my skin each time I turned over man!!. It was pretty sore. After about 4 days, I found, if I put the pressure on to my face on that side, it was fine.

I started to get paranoid, thinking it was infected. There was bugger all wrong with it, just tender, as any wound is a couple of days after it is done!

Here I am a month later. The piercing is doing really well. I can sleep on it, no problem. I clean it twice a day still, and there have been hardly any crusties at all. Its been knocked a few times, it hurts when knocked, but nowt I can't cope with.

I'm well chuffed with it, and have got to big up Hex, as it is quite obviously very clean, and the 1st 24 hours of a piercing are crucial. Hex's piercing studio is ultra clean, and 2nd to none that I've been to before.

If you're thinking about a scaffold (industrial!!), it really isn't that bad, there are some horrendous stories on here. Don't let them put you off at all. It really is a sexy piercing to have!! You do get a lot of folk turning their noses up at you though! I didn't realise quite how bad some of the reactions to it would be. I've had folk from the older generations, stop, look, and proceed to lecture me that if we were meant to have bits of metal poking through our skin we'd be born with it!!

A few of the lasses at work have nearly thrown up, what is all that about??? Very odd. I think its absolutely gorgeous, cor, if they'd seen my sternum, they'd be having heart attacks in the middle of the street!! They don't seem to be arsed about all my tatts. But piercings, for some strange reason, folk get all weird about. Strange eh?? The way I think is this.....

Just a little bit of pain, to make you look more BEAUTIFUL!!

Take Care, Claire xx
