My nape love started when I went to a Mudvayne concert a few years ago. The show had not yet started so everyone was just walking around the club where it was held, and that's when I saw her. This girl with pretty pink hair and then I saw this thing on her neck and I thought it was so amazing! I wasn't all into piercing then since I was only 15 or so and only had a couple of my own so I just let it slip.

I'm just looking through piercing sites when I come across bmezine.com and just start looking at other peoples piercing's. I saw a category called surface and unusual, so I thought id take a look and see what they were. And then again I came across the nape. Well a navel is sort of like a surface piercing and I've had that for so long, maybe I'll look into it for sometime in the future.
A few more piercing's later I feel the urge for something new and different. So I got back to looking at piercing's. The nape. It always stuck in my mine. They are so pretty and pretty rare. Where I'm from I don't know anyone who has one or seen one in person anywhere besides the concert a few states away.
Its now summer of '06 and I'm doing even more research then ever hoping to get my nape done in a few weeks. I'm reading every experience, watching every video anything that has to do with the nape piercing. Well my mom is planning on taking me back to school shopping so maybe I can get it that day.
me - Mom when we go to the mall can I get my nape pierced?
mom - Your what?!
me - The back of my neck.
mom - No of course not you already have enough piercing!
me - No I don't, I took some ear ones out.
mom - Well see. well have to talk about it.
me - Fine, OK.
So we get to talking and she finally gave in. We planned on going after we got our shopping done at the mall on august 11th.
I asked her to record my getting it done and she said yes. So to prepare her I showed her some videos which I found on a site. She thought it was pretty close, but still agreed to record mine being done. To prepare myself with the piercing even more I start e-mailing one of the pierces from spider-bite along with more research on the net.
fast forward a few weeks
The big day had finally come! I'm acting pretty calm. We go and do our shopping and then I get my hair cut so its a little shorter so not to bother my new friend.
The place that I planned to get my nape pierced at also has a little stand at the mall I went to. While I'm looking at jewelry with my older brother, my mom says Amber come here. So I'm like oh maybe she found the flat disks that I wanted to buy. But nope. "He has his nape done." my mom says about the guy at the stand. So we get to talking a little bit about his. I ask how bad is it and he said "Oh its nothing, the clamps are the worst part. Not cause its pain full just annoying"
So we leave so that I can get a bit to eat. My last two piercing's (labret and eyebrow) I almost fainted so decided that id eat before this piercing, being so extreme and everything. Boy was I stuffed from what little I ate. But, I still felt like I should have more sugar in my system. so I gobble up some Hello Kitty gummy's that I brought along with me. I couldn't even eat the whole package. I don't know it was from nerves or what but I felt like throwing up. Thank god I didn't!

me - Yeah, I'm looking into getting my nape pierced.
girl - OK well are you 18?
me - Nope 17.
So she gets my moms ID to copy it and then gives me the paper to sign. Then we go and pick out the jewelry. The girl asked me what size gauge I wanted and I said 14. She takes the package out of the case and takes out a barbell. She said it was going to be a few minutes because she had to bend and then sterilize the barbell. While we wait a bit we look at the jewelry. Then the girl comes back to the desk and says "I can ring you up while your waiting" So I get some h2ocean cause I loved how it healed my eyebrow. I also got some satin soap cause the girl at the counter said that it would be really good for the piercing and that it works good with h2ocean. So grand total of $74 but a few months earlier my brother and me went to a concert and some people from spider-bite were there and the were handing out cards for 10% off anything in the store. Well I gave mine to the girl to get my discount and she says "OK your total is 666" Um wait what did she just say it was 666? My mom, my brother, the girl and I all l ook at each other with wired looks. "Um maybe your shouldn't get this piercing." my mom says. And the girl at the counter starts joking around with me "Would you like to buy a stick-on tattoo, just to change the price?" And we all start laughing.
So waiting for my jewelry to be clean and ready for my mom, brother and me go and sit on one of the nice comfy couches. I grab the portfolio and start looking at their work since I've never been to them. I asked my mom if she was still going to record me getting pierced and she said no way. I was a little bummed, but luckily my brother was there so I made him record it for me.
Jason the piercer comes out and asks if I'm ready, and I jump right up! We go back to the piercing room and I take a seat in the chair. He tells me to look straight ahead so he can mark me up. Wasn't happy with the first marks so he try's again, this time he thinks its good. He has the girl at the counter come back and take a second look. She says its fine, then my mom and brother get to see. Once they approve, I get to look at it last and I'm happy. I cant believe I'm finally getting it done! I'm told to scoot back in the chair and look at the ground slightly. And Jason says that the clamps are coming. I don't know why people say that the clamps are the worst part, I don't find them the least bit annoying. But any ways back to the piercing. Jason says that I'm going to feel a little prick and I feel the needle inserting. "Breath normally" he says. I look at my hands and I'm not shaking at all! Just a little bit of sweat on my thumbs. Jason says "just another prick, I still don't flinch or make a sound so hi m pray zing my courage, I'm guessing, he says "or not" Then I finally let out a tiny little woo. Jason goes over a little bit more on the after care and stuff with me while he cleans me up. Then its off with the showing it off to everyone but me again. I turn around so my mom and brother can see and then Jason hands me the mirror so I can take a look. "I love it I say" We talk a little bit more cause my eyebrow ring comes up. After were done talking we start to head out. This one guy walks by me and just keeps staring, cant wait for more of that! I guess before I got the piercing someone said "That girls going to cry" but ha I proved them wrong it was so painless.
I thought that my labret and eyebrow hurt like hell so I thought that this piercing was going to kill. Maybe it was because I eat before. But if that's the case I highly recommend eating before getting this piercing. Though I now know that you should eat before ANY piercing.
I've only had this piercing for a few hours and so far so good, but only time will tell if it will stay and hopefully it does!
