Let's start off right now with me admitting that this is probably going to be one of the most unsafe and just downright stupid stories you're ever going to read on here. This is what happens in Wisconsin when you're a teen who's grown tired of the weekly cow tippin'. I know I'm young, I know I'm stupid, and this was extremely dangerous. In other words, don't try this at home. (Like I did.)

The scene was Thursday at Johannes skate-park. I was there with my boyfriend and a few other kids, just standing around, drinking kool-aid and having fun. Looking at my boyfriend I had a wonderful idea. Today I was supposed to pierce his lip for him, and all the talk of piercings had gotten me wanting one. (Ooh yes, I am an addict.) Without hesitation I blurt out 'You should pierce my wrist for me.'

He looks at me and says, "Aw, I want one too."

And within those simple words our plan was concocted. We would give each other matching wrist piercings at a festival we were planning on going to the next week. It would be a 'Hey, we're a couple- look at us being cute losers and giving each other matching piercings' kind of thing. The best part about it was, nobody else we knew even knew about wrist/surface piercings. It would be completely our own.

Complications came up since then. We didn't go to the festival, and within the next two weeks we ended up breaking up because of personal problems we both had. Still good friends, I found myself speaking to him over AIM a few days ago. He wanted me to come to his house to watch a movie and I asked if he'd still pierce me. He agreed and said he still wanted me to pierce his wrist.

Half an hour later I'm sitting on his couch, clutching the pillow in my lap. He's opening the sealed needle packet and getting the new jewelry ready. Looking at me a grin spreads 'cross his lips, "You know this is the cleanest piercing we've ever done."

I laugh nervously, remembering when I pierced him we used an old needle and jewelry that I just pulled out of my lip moments earlier.

With that he moves his computer chair next to the couch and takes my hand. Asks me if I was sure I wanted this. I agree.

He grabs my wrist and I grab the pillow harder. I lay my head down and squeeze my eyes shut. I had my wrist pierced before, but with a safety pin. Piercings and I get along fine, but for some reason surface piercings freak me the hell out; I don't know why.

He pulls up the skin a little bit above my wrist and lines the needle up, then begins to push in, and I can feel it going into the skin. This was the part that hurt the most and I let out a muffled squeak. Then there was that odd moment when it was inside the two pieces of skin and you can feel it moving. It doesn't hurt now, just feels really strange. Then the exit- this doesn't hurt as much as going it, just a little prick.

By now I'm shaking for no reason. It didn't hurt that much, just the realization that there's a bar of metal in your arm is enough.

He pulls the needle out and screws on the ball to the industrial jewelry we used. Looking at me with a worried expression on his face, he asks if I'm okay. I give him a shaky smile and say I'm fine.

The piercing was good, only bleeding a little. I freaked out for about 5 minuets when I realized if I touched it I could feel the bar beneath my skin. I think that has to be the most surreal thing, to touch your skin and actually feel something. That was the part that really got me and I just couldn't seem to get over it. I was afraid to strain my hand, and refused to use it for about an hour after.

We cleaned it with Q-tips and water. It didn't hurt at all afterwards, and I was so extremely happy with my new piercing.

I did his, ended up going though a vein and he bled a lot. But that's another story.

It's been 2-3 days since I've had my wrist pierced. It was really red a first and I was afraid to move the jewelry. Now it's just a little red around the edges of the holes and feels fine. Although my hand and wrist is a little sore, I'm hoping its nothing though. I've been washing it every day with Q-tips and antibacterial soap.

My mum saw it the night I had it pierced and freaked out. She screamed, but now has settled down. I wasn't surprised, that was the same reaction I've gotten about all my other piercings.

I like this one a lot because it's easy to cover up. You can just pull a sleeve over it and its completely hidden. It doesn't get caught on clothes, either.

The only down-side to this is the reaction you get. I was sitting in the bus station the other day waiting for my transfer and this girl saw my arm and freaked out. This isn't a piercing for you if you don't want to take the time to explain it to people over and over.

But, overall I thought it was a good experience, and this is now my favorite piercing. It didn't hurt that much, its easy to take care of, and it just looks good.
