Its been two days since I stepped foot into West Coast; and what a experience it was. When I went in, I was only half the person I was the second I stepped out.

I have been to West Coast before for my Belly Button and Nose Piercings. I have been very happy with the work that I got off both of them and have decided to keep Kelly from West Coast as my personal piercing guy for as long as I live in Surrey. So this was almost routine for me but what I came in for was much different.

I had always wanted to get a weird piercing and a Vertical Sternum was just up my ally. After looking up about other histories and stories about them I decided to go for the big blow on my 18th Birthday. Because of rugby I was not able to get it directly on my birthday but I went in early and Kelly gave me the 50% off anyway for a later date.

That day came and I was almost jumping out of my skin with excitement. I went in on Sunday May 28th. It was slow and another guy was getting a surface bar as well. I signed the sheets and was given the whole jazz about the care of my piercing. (Kelly is amazing at the information. He knows exactly what he is talking about.) Before I knew it we were in the piercing area and there I was standing in just my Bra.

Next, Kelly got his gloves on and his special pen ready. We started off by talking about placement (the higher the better on the chest) after long consideration we marked the area. After about four tries moving the dot like... millimeters left and right (Kelly's such a perfectionist.. which is good in his work;) We found the perfect spot. We were both pleased.

I lay on the doctor-like bed to begin the procedure. We talked about this and that while he got completely set up, changing his gloves etc. After a bit he started by massaging the area and getting it ready for piercing fun.

He proceeded to do the pierce and taper method, which I believe is the only way this piercing should be done. He first did the lower of the two holes, slowly sliding the needle in. It was very painful but bearable. It wasn't to the point of saying anything but took long enough to think about how bad it was. Then he took another needle and did the top hole. This time, it hurt, oh man did it hurt. I moaned a bit from the pain, which seemed to last longer. I told him about the pain and he explained that the pain receptors are now awake at the site by the second pierce. I breathed slowly so I wouldn't get dizzy and it was done.

Next, he removed the needles and proceeded to but a cloth on my skin to take away the blood. I didn't know I could bleed so much. Anyway next came the taper. He slid it through, this part hurt but by now, all I can think of is how bad that second needle was. It was over pretty quickly.

After the taper he finished by sliding the bar in and the taper out. He clamped the bar and put the two beads on the bar and gave me a spray. (Oh the spray is an amazing feeling after all that) He then finished with a final examination and I was done. He finished by taking a few pictures which will eventually go on their website.

Its been a few days since I got it and it looks perfect. There is no swelling or redness and even though it is sometimes uncomfortable to lay down with, I am glad I got it. Event though my body is not completely complete, this puts me one more hole closer to filling the hole in my life.

That piercing is my most prized of my 11 Piercings. I look down at it and cannot imagine myself without it. Going through the pain I did makes me feel like nothing is impossible and I feel like a stronger person then I was just days ago. I don't recommend this piercing for people who cant take pain. But recommend it to people who are looking for a challenge.

I also recommend West Coast Piercings if your in the Surrey area, I have never been so pleased with a place and Kelly and the rest really know what they are doing. He is always there when I have a question or have a piercing problem. Anyway that's it from me. Happy Piercings.. <3

p.s. Kelly.. Ill be back for more.. I promise!
