This is the story of how my much loved piercing came to be.....I was out with my friend Amy thinking about getting my lip pierced, Infact I was thinking about it so much that id got the right amount of money together and gone into the studio to ask questions, I was almost ready to have it done when Amy said this fateful statement 'your mum will KILL you' and, well, she had a point. I've been into body modification for awhile now and my mum sensing that this was not an argument she would win easily agreed to let me get piercings (but piercings only) and it was to be nothing on my face. So after much sulking on my part I reconsidered seeing as I would get in a lot of shit at school as well, that is if my mum hadn't already murdered me and buried me in the back garden.

So I walked out of the studio and went about shopping again, but I couldn't quite bring myself to spend the money on anything else and started thinking about the pictures of surface piercing id seen on here and yup as you've most likely guessed I ended right back up at the studio. Now I had to deicide whether I wanted my nape or wrist pierced, I finally settled on my nape as I wanted both my wrists doing and would only have enough money for one (I did eventually get them both done). So I filled out the necessary forms and paid my £20 then was told that id have to wait for about 10mins for them to get set-up. I spent the next 10 minutes fidgeting like a mad woman and wandering round aimlessly. I always get really excited and hyped up before a piercing and this was no exception as I was about to have a needle put through the back of my neck. Finally they called me into the little piercing room and was to told to sit on a chair and tie my hair out of the way. At this point I was getting kind of nervous but Amy looked more worried than I was. I was then marked up and I just trusted his judgement. Then it was time for the actual piercing which to my surprise didn't hurt, at least not in the way I thought it would. It was just a really weird sensation which I must say I really did enjoy. The whole thing only took about 2mins max and the only real 'ouch' type pain was when the ball was being screwed on and the bar tugged on my skin slightly. Leon then went through the basic aftercare of salt water washes and then put a plaster type thing over it a told me not to remove it for two hours.

On the way out I said to Amy 'See wasn't I a good girl!' joking and in reply she made a joke about if we'd bin to the doctors we'd get a lolly for being good, and when the guy who works there heard this he went and got us both a lolly!!! this was proberly a good thing as i find its a good idea to have something sugary after a piercing

After getting it done we made a quick dash to go and buy some ibuprofen for the swelling and this is were my advice comes in ALWAYS TAKE A FRIEND. Amy had to get my money out for me and get the packet of the shelf. Maybe it was just me worrying about damaging it but I couldn't move my head to the side or up or down because of it would pull on my neck! Thankfully I wasn't alone else I would have been a danger crossing roads! But don't let this put any one off I found that after the first few days it didn't really bother me, though sleeping is a pain in the ass. It also quite simple to clean I just soaked a cotton pad with salt water then left it sitting on my neck and had no problems with it at all. Id had it in for about 2 months and it was healing well but sadly I had to take it out. I believe if I wouldn't have it would have been fully healed by now.

The reason I had to take it out was my mum wasn't very happy about it but because we had the deal she let me keep it but when we went to the doctors, the doctor (who is very anti-piercings)told my mum that Id run the risk of infection which could go to my brain so on and so forth. So then my mum was scared that my little baby piercing was going to try n kill me so eventually I agreed to take it out.

BUT before I did I made mum agree that if I took my nape piercing out she would have to let me get my lip pierced in the six week break I have of from school, and she agreed and even gave me the money back id paid for the piercing!!!

So now in 7 weeks time ill be the proud owners of snakebites and will eventually add a nape piercing back to my growing collection as it really is in my opinion a great piercing to have and recommend anyone who was thinking about getting it done to go for it!
