Let me first just say that you can't rush getting this piercing. I did, and all I got was $60 poorer, an ugly rejection scar, and my hopes utterly dashed. This was all around a year ago. I chose a place where I'd gotten my tongue done previously. It was a clean little shop, the piercer was friendly and at the time I thought professional, and he seemed like he was overall pretty knowledgeable about piercing. Here's where I made my first mistake: when I said I wanted a Christina, I got a blank stare in return. The correct thing to do at this point would have been to thank him for his time and get the HELL out of there, but no. I wanted that Christina so badly that I disregarded common sense. So, after explaining and re-explaining the concept of a Christina I paid my $60 and he started preparing. He haphazardly marked some dots on me (not even a half inch of length), made sure that I didn't just want my hood done instead, and pulled out a curved barbell and bent it a little to "make it work." This was another pretty good sign I should have gotten out of there as fast as possible. Did I? No. So I laid down and he jabbed me without much warning and I was out of there in about 5 minutes with a sore crotch and an uncomfortable piercing. During the next few months, my Christina slowly rejected. I kept thinking it would magically "stop" after a certain point, and even went back in to have a smaller barbell put in. Even then it persistently reject. So, finally reality sunk in and I took it out. I was completely crushed.

After mulling it over for about a year I decided to try again, and This Time do some research and find someone who had firstly Heard of a Christina, and secondly one who had pictures of healed Christinas they had done. Oddly enough, I found the perfect candidate while I was on a piercing board on myspace. I know, I know... but the guy really seemed to know what he was talking about, and from my own scant knowledge I knew he wasn't just b.s.ing. So we chatted a bit and he was more than happy to send me pictures of previous work and after asking as many questions I could think of I finally took the dive and made the appointment. When I got there things were a total 180 from my previous Christina experience. He told me we'd be using tygon instead of a bar because it was more flexible which is what you need to heal a piercing like a Christina. He talked to me to calm me down and I actually got a lot of interesting mod information out of it so I wasn't even worried when he started get ready. I even got to pick out a coloured gem stone for the ends for no extra cost. This doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but when you're going to get stabbed in the crotch and you're a girl, pretty sparkly things help calm you down. He cleaned everything up, marked me and had me stand up to see if he needed to make any adjustments, and when I laid back down he started me on a breathing exercise to calm me down and help my muscles relax. So while I was taking deep breathes in and out I got pierced the second time. It hurt, but Not like the last one, which is ironic because it was about four times as much skin. But with the breathing and his expertise it was over in a moment and after the jewelry was in I had no pain. And it's Perfect. Completely vertical, just what I wanted, and what a proper Christina should be. He gave me tons of aftercare info and said I could call anytime, day or night if anything should happen. It's two days later now and things are going great; I'm still not in much pain at all. I will be going back to him for any and everything I have done in the future... as well as dragging any friends who want work done too. He's in a different state and about an hour and a half away, but I'd drive twice as far, because he's that good.

If you myspace like I do, you should definitely check out his page: http://www.myspace.com/modificationandsuspension

But most importantly... remember to do your research on this one! You can't go to a hack and hope for the best with it, because you'll just end up like I did. You Need to research and find someone who will do you and the Christina justice.
