Late February I set out on a long awaited mission- to finally get the side corset I've always wanted against the advice of nearly every one I mentioned it to and too many "Whys?" than I care to remember. Due to my liking of the number, I wanted it to be formed of 11 surface piercings each side. However after much debate I settled for 7 each side, starting from the bottom of my bra line.

The bars are placed horizontally beside each other leading to a long, long time marking up in order to get the effect and spacing that I wanted. The piercing it's self were a very relaxing experience. The clamping hurts like a mother, yet there's something very satisfying about having a needle pushed through your skin being left with some nice shiny adornments.
Returning for many a check-ups we decided that they were healing well with no signs of rejection and to my excitement we could carry on. The next session was for two more underneath each side. By April we were ready to lace her up after delays with the delivery of the slaves. After a week of hype, cameras at the ready the last of the rings was clipped in to place and the lacing began. Talk about anti-climax. It was not the result either of us had expected leaving us both very disappointed indeed. However on the bright side it lead to me getting my own way. J More were to be added to each side so it would not be as cramped. We decided to leave it a month or so before we added anymore to it, as the lacing had irritated them a little and I wanted them to fully recuperate.
On returning to the shop on a very hot Friday afternoon to have my double vertical sternum pierced and to replace a bar or two on my side, we discovered an odd looking rash beginning to form. By the following morning it had spread dramatically leaving the most awful burning and itching sensation, I felt like I was crawling alive with fire ants. Luckily I was able to be fitted into the emergency doc Saturday morning before I was due to go out to celebrate a mates birthday and was put on prescribed antibiotics to clear the "infection" and hopefully save what was now a part of me. On a trip back to Wild Cherry while waiting for my friends to turn up I was advised to remove them there and then and not worry- they would be redone. I left, piercings still in place and went on my merry way to see Rx Bandits. It spread and kept spreading and by the end of the night it had spread to the two in my nape.
Sunday morning the itching was worse, much worse topped with excruciating pain. I knew it was time that they had to come out. Out they came, me almost in tears- my corset had gone. Still no sign of improvement and I was down the hospital at stupid o'clock in the morning. I was put on well over triple the dosage of antibiotics, with risk of having left it longer I'd have needed hospitalization, IV antibiotics and be at severe risk of septicaemia. Monday came and went, no sign of improvement, just more and more spreading; resulting to the removal of the two in my nape. Tuesday I was taken to hospital put on IV antibiotics, which was by far the most painful part since the beginning of the process and left. By 5 doctors I had been told it was an infection, probably cause by a minor problem in one, which then spread due to the piercings being within such close proximity to each other, but now I was being told it was an allergic reaction. But to what? No one had any idea; I was discharged form hospital with 5 lots of medication being promised a visit by the dermatologist. It slowly began to improve, yet the itching never subsided, and the cream they have me literally burned a layer of my skin of leaving me with what is now a red, hideous mess.
I was told Friday by the wonderful pro-mod doctor that all my piercings should be removed simply because the are "disgusting and horrible... I do not understand why you do this to yourself! All out!" (If you can't tell, he spoke very poor English). However I was told it was infected eczema- a condition that I have never suffered with in my life and being told to go for allergy test. He prescribed me 4 more lots of antibiotics on top of the other 5.
Saturday night was the strangest gig of my life, not having to shield my side from everyone with in close proximity to prevent them being ripped out, leaving me with what felt like a big gap, part of me had gone. I sit here today missing my stupidly long cleaning regime and catching a glimpse of my nape in windows etc. as I pass, still with no idea what happened and a big ugly mess on my side, banishing me to the comfort of baggy shirts to cover it and a few of those closest to me to disgusted to look at it and in a few hurtful cases even hug me
I will still have my corset and I will find a way of hiding what scars may be left in a way of which I can be proud of; it will just take much longer than originally anticipated. My nape will be returned and I will have a new better corset to be proud of!
