For a fair while I've wanted my lip pierced again or my eyebrow done slightly more than I do anything else on my long list of modifications that I'm actually old enough to get, so after finishing work having being bitten several times by the rats (dogs) in my care and I asked my mummy for my money so I could be on my merry way (yes I work with my mum). Mentioning that I had to head back to the piercer's to get my side checked I dropped in the I wanted either or done, hoping that her being in a good mood would turn around and say "hey, why not- go ahead" but no, I was ignored.

Had my side and neck checked and all was well making me a happy bunny as my neck had previously been very red and irritated. Mentioning that I wanted a new addition we discussed many possibilities, including many placements for a new surface piercing or two along with having my tongue done twice more- then realised the second is out of the question as I'm going out for dinner tomorrow and want to be able to eat something slightly more than custard.
After a long discussion I couldn't quite make up my mind as to where to add a 9th surface piercing, and left seriously considering either finger or chest. Leaving the shop rather disappointed we headed to the bus stop where I discovered I'd just missed the bus and had a 25minute wait in the cold and rain. After brief thought I'd made up my mind and it was back to the studio we went. It was to be my Chest.
After brief discussion I wanted the piercing to be longer than any of his already made bars. So that was made and we had many a discussion and I settled myself in the chair (God how I love that chair- I'm not even joking here, I am looking into buying a tattoo chair for my room). It was then I was told the piercing would probably have to be done free hand- this made me happy- I hate clamps, but no- I was lucky and able to have clamps used on me. It was then I was told free hand would kill because with the placement it would take much longer than the ones on my side.
After the cleaning and my usual munch on the chocolate and sweets found in my bag(come to think of it I left my bottle of water and Smarties there) came the marking. This confused me a little as I couldn't quite work out where it started – yes I am unsure of where my "cleavage" starts but I trusted his judgement. But having solved that and lots of double checking of measurements I was ready- bracing myself for what I thought would be the most painful thing I'd ever go through, while being clamped( always tricky as a shake like a mother fucker- I feel the cold- a lot!) my dear friend decided to pull faces as **only** he does.
Taking hold of the sides of the chair I wasn't able to watch so watched my friend still pulling faces. One...Two...Three... get in there my son, I was pleasantly surprised- the least painful surface piercing I've ever had, with only minimal discomfort as the needle exited. Even putting in the bar wasn't too bad admiring his hand work I was ecstatic, I couldn't have been happier with the placement.
I paid the man- by far the most painful part- provoking the usual discussions and left only to find I'd missed another bus, so it was off to Sainsbury's to by salt as I was off to a friends that tonight and had left mine at home! But no! Didn't have any, a quick trip to Somerfield and I was sorted and off to catch a bus.
Now I'm here sitting at my mates very happy with my new addition- my very beautiful sternum- in NO discomfort or pain at all. It easily one of my favourite 25+ piercing and is placed perfectly. I always find that my impulse piercing tends to be my favourite and this is no exception. I've just cleaned it and it is doing peachy- the only stinging down to using water slightly to hot.
People always ask if there is reason behind my piercings, and yes even the ones done on spur of the moment all have meaning or reason behind them- this one was to make myself feel better after discovering that I may have horrible illnesses; and for now it's worked. I'm over the moon just a little disappointed in the lack of pain it did cause- may sound odd but part of me likes the pain- reminds me it's there- plus nothing worse than rolling on to a fresh piercing especially surface piercing- fuck me- bad memories
