I am 16 years old and living in Badajoz, Spain. I've desired a surface piercing for a while. On December 12th I decided that I wanted to get the nape of my neck pierced. My mother, Martha, frowned upon that idea, but she took me to get it done anyway. I went into the centre of Badajoz to Manocho street. I was so excited.

It was very hot in Triangulo. There were many people inside of the small head shop. My mom told me to ask who ever does the piercing to do it. I was quite nervous since I didn't know how to speak Spanish I went up to the front counter where I saw two women and two men behind it. It turns out that Triangulo is run by a family; a mom, a dad and a brother and sister. They all had piercings. I nervously asked to have the nape of my neck pierced. The brother, Ruben, came over to me and pulled down the hood of my jacket. He then pulled on my nape and told me he could do it and smiled. I was so excited. He asked to see my ID and when I showed him, his smile suddenly went to into a frown. He told me I wasn't old enough to get the piercing, because I had to be 18 years old. But then, I pointed over to my mother and said, "Pero, mi madre esta aqui". He then said, "Ah, vale." He asked if her if she was really my mother and asked to see her ID. She showed Ruben and the rest of his family, since they were all watching closely. He then pulled out a binder full of sheets of paper. He asked her fill it out. The sheet of paper my mom had to sign needed her to write the date and time of when I got pierced, the "anillador", the area I got pierced, the cost, and her signature. When I saw her write her signature I gave her a big hug and said, "Thank you". I was trembling with excitement. Ruben picked out the piece of jewelry for my neck and asked me to follow him outside. He told me the room He does the piercing in is in the building right next door. My mother, my sister, Marissa, and I followed Ruben into a brick building. The building was dark and only had one light. We followed Ruben up a Few flights of stairs when we finally stopped. Ruben pulled out his keys and unlocked the door he was standing in front of. We then walked into the room. It was quite welcoming. It had two long coaches, a coffee table, an oriental rug and pictures of peoples' piercings everywhere. He asked my mother and Marissa to wait in that room. He led me into another room that was smaller.
It was bright and white. It reminded me of a doctors' office. He told my mom that she could watch if she liked. So, she came on into the room. He explained the procedure and the aftercare. He asked me to lie down, face flat, on the bed that was laid out. He told my mom everything he was doing before he did it. Then, she translated for me. He put on some disposable latex gloves on, first He cleaned my neck with iodine and marked where he was going to pierce. He then clamped my nape. That actually hurt more than the piercing it self. He then cleaned the long stainless steel bar and left it in a little bowl full of iodine. He then took the needle in his hand and penetrated my skin. I could feel the needle going through my neck. Ruben then put the bar in my neck and twisted on the small stainless steel balls. He cleaned my neck again with iodine and used a cotton swab to put on Oxitetraciclina, polimixina on my neck. He kept asking me if I was ok during the entire process. He then, asked me to take a look at it. He handed me a mirror so that I could see the reflection on my neck from a larger mirror that was hanging on the wall behind me. I was thrilled! I loved it. My mom looked like she was going to faint. Ruben disposed of everything he used to pierce me. My mom and I watched him discard the iodine, the latex gloves, and the cotton swab and cotton ball. He explained to us that he uses pliers to bend the needle so that it may never be used or harm someone. Then he put the needle in a big disposable container full of old needles. Ruben gave me the cream he put on my neck I thanked Ruben. I was about to hand Ruben the 50 € it cost to get me piercing, but then he told me to give it to his sister back in the store. I walked out of the piercing room and Marissa rushed up to me and took a look at my neck. She was grossed out, but in awe at the same time. We went back into Triangulo and I paid Ruben's sister the money. Ruben asked me to come back in a week to check how my piercing was doing. That night was one of the greatest nights of my life.
The next week, I went back to Triangulo. I saw Ruben and he took me back up to the piercing room. He told me that my neck was healing fine, but he suggested that I should change the bar, for a smaller more comfortable one. I agreed. Ruben put on disposable latex gloves and cleaned the new jewelry he was going to put in my neck. He then took out the long bar and cleaned me neck. He slid in a transparent retainer. He then, twisted on two balls. It was smaller and much more comfortable. I love my piercing. I love the attention I get from it. It was the most exhilarating experience of my life and I will never forget it.
I recommend Triangulo to anyone in the Badajoz area if they are looking for jewelry or looking to get a piercing. The materials and needles are totally disposable. The have maximum hygiene and large selection of jewelry made out of stainless steel, titanium and acrylic.
