I've had piercings before so this wasn't new to me. I have 5 ear piercings, nose and labret, and now my newly pierced sternum.
At A Glance Author Melissa Contact psycho_munkey2000@hotmail.com When A week ago Artist Ryan Studio Sonics Location St. Catharines I decided that it was time for a change and I would get a new piercing. But of course, my parents weren't up to it. So I wanted something I could easily hide. I've always thought sternum piercings were really nice so I thought I'd go with that one.
One Friday after a long day of school I wanted to go to Sonics and get it done. It's right by my house so it was convenient. I had never gotten one at Sonics before. The only professional piercing I have is my labret, I did the others myself.
My friend wanted to come with me cause she wanted to see what was going to go on.
We walked into Sonics and went to the desk. Behind it was a man with lots of piercings lounging on a chair. I knew from other people that this was Ryan, the piercer at Sonics.
I told him I wanted a piercing and he responded by saying 'yeah? so do I'
I laughed and told him I wanted my sternum. He said ok and told me to fill out a sheet and sign my name into a book. While I was doing this he was telling me about the piercing and how to take care of it.
He asked for my i.d and I gave it to him. I payed my $45.00 and stood around for a minute or two. He told me to go around to the room and I did. My friend came with me cause she thought Ryan was cute haha.
I sat in a chair and he got set up. He spent about 7 minutes trying to find the right size PTFE bar. He found one and told me to stand up. I did and he marked me where it was gonna go.
He tried threading the bar through the needle so he could pull it though but it wouldn't fit. After 10 minutes of excessive swearing later he gave up and came to a conclusion that his boss ordered the wrong stuff. He decided that he would try just putting the needle through me and stick the bar in later.
I sat back down and he put the clamps on me. They hurt. They pinch so much, they were kind of digging into my skin. He told me to take a deep breath in and he stuck the needle in. It didn't hurt really. The clamps were making it worse.
He tried putting the bar in but it still wouldn't go.
By that time I was bleeding. He cleaned me up with rubbing alcohol, ouch, and he kept apologizing. My friend and I just continued to laugh.
He told me to come back at noon sharp the next day and he would bring his own stuff from home and he would have the perfect size bar for me. He also said he would knock the price down $10.00.
The next day my friend and I came back at 12:00pm sharp and sat around for about 15 minutes because Ryan wasn't there yet. I was hurting a bit from the previous day but that wasn't going to stop me.
Soon Ryan comes in with arms full of McDonalds bags.
I paid my $35.00 and signed a book again.
He told me to come back to the room and my friend followed.
I sat down and he said he'll be right back because he has to woof down a cheeseburger.
He came back and cleaned my skin and marked where he was going to pierce me again.
I told him he smelt like cheeseburgers and he laughed, accidently marking the wrong place. He marked me again and told me to sit down.
I pulled my shirt down and he laughs and said 'whoa, I just met you'.
He clamped me again and it hurt even more. I took my mind off of it by talking to my friend. The bar went through the needle perfectly this time with no problems. He then told me to take a deep breath again and stuck the needle in me. A few seconds later he was putting the end ball on. He told me to check it out. Then he turned to my friend and said 'and no, I don't mean my ass. I saw that!'
I gave him a tip and he gave me a hug.
He told me to come back in a week for him to check it out.
But I haven't yet.
It's been a week and my piercing is doing fine. I've been cleaning it regularly and my parents haven't seen it yet.
Now my friend want's to get the same thing done and she want's Ryan to do it.
