Just recently I was looking through BME piercing pictures and saw a girl with her cleavage done. I fell in love with it and knew right away that I wanted it. I had had 5 piercings previously and I'm pretty much addicted. I knew my mom wouldn't go for the idea of me having a barbell between my boobs so I decided to wait and ask her on a good day and see what she says. Well, I never really caught her on a good day so I never got her permission. I am 16 so I can go without her consent but I'd rather she knows about it then have to hide it from her, which would be the case now.

Anyway, I had moved to Niagara Falls in July and didn't know any piercers or studios in Niagara Falls, so I hung out with my one friend in St. Catharines most of the time. I called every piercing place in St. Catharines and asked if they did the piercing, what it would cost and how much it would cost. I was also pretty curious about the barbell they would use for the piercing. I never really asked about it specifically which was a mistake on my part. Out of all the places I had called, this one place did it the cheapest. So, I went to my friends place, and got her mom to drive me to the place to get it done. I was pretty nervous because I had never been to this one before and didn't really know anyone too well. Although, it was the cheapest place I could go, and it was a reputable tattoo/piercing place.

So, I went with my friend and walked in and showed him my I.D., and I decided to ask once more what kind of barbell they'd be using. He told me he'd be using a PTFE barbell, which I didn't really want. I preferred a surgical steel or titanium bent surface bar. I asked him if that would be better and he said no, PTFE would be fine. By the way, it totally isn't for the actual placement itself. So, I asked him about rejection, which isn't rare when it comes to surface piercings. He replied that it would be fine if I cleaned it properly. This again isn't true. I do a vast amount of research before I go and get something pierced, and you could keep your piercing as clean as possible, and it could still reject. Every piercing has a chance of rejection. I could tell he wasn't fully prepared to answer the questions I had for him. But, I had already paid and didn't feel like walking out now, so I continued. He was fairly clean about it, and he had a sense of humour which put me at ease a bit. I was wearing a tank top so I didn't have to remove my top or anything, which was good. He used permanent marker on me though, which I thought was odd considering most places use the ones that are purple and are used in hospitals (I'm not sure of the name, sorry). He had to clamp me, which hurt the most because I don't have much skin there, which was probably the worst part about it too. So, he pierced me and it was fine. I fell in love with it. I find it to be a bit crooked but I'm happy with it regardless. He told me he wanted me back in the studio in a few days to check on it, but I never went. I found it pointless, really.

I was content with it for a little while and I had to hide it from my mom. It's fairly easy considering I've been doing it for 3 months now.

So, the barbell itself wasn't bent, it was fairly straight and pushing against my skin drastically. It made the piercing look horrible. My friend wanted her cartilage pierced and I went with her. She went to the studio that I usually go to for my piercings, and I asked the girl working there about my cleavage, and if anything could be done to make it look better, and possibly not reject. She told me I should get a titanium barbell about an inch and a half long, since titanium was the lightest after PTFE. I went to a store close by to see if they sold them, but I had no luck. I ended up going back and getting a surgical steel one put in. She told me that it might pull down on the top because it's slightly heavier and not recommended for the place of the piercing. I didn't care. She took a barbell and bent it for me and took me in the backroom and replaced it. It instantly looked better, and I was so happy. I didn't think they used those kinds of barbells which is the reason for me not going to them to begin with. I regret not going there to begin with but they fixed it for me and now it's a happy little cleavage piercing. She only charged me 10 dollars for the barbell itself so I paid and was on my way.

I just had to show it off. It's such an amazing piercing. I hope to tell my parents about it soon, but they might not be too happy. I refuse to take it out though. It's beautiful and I love it. It is by far the best piercing I've had.
