I had decided very recently that I wanted to get another facial piercing done. But what could I get to be a little different from anything else that I have seen? BME is a wonderful site to come to for inspiration...fortunately for me, I have also met someone who by just looking at him has given me the inspiration to do many different things. Thank you Cody! ;-)

I have had my eyebrow itself done a couple of times, and to me, that's just a little boring now. Cody told me about the anti-eyebrow so I looked it up. Cute, I must say...but still not quite what I was going for. Hmmmm....how about a version of the anti-eyebrow, but on my temple instead? Coming out from the corner of my eye, onto the temple...at an angle. That is definitely not something I have seen before around here. It would kind of give me the appearance of cat-like eyes! Cats are my favorite animals...that would be purrrfect. Now who should I go to to get this done?

Cody has about sixteen piercings now. He frequents a little shop here in Radford, Va. called Gothic Arts. I did have my nose done here, also, but not by the same guy who has done his piercings. A good piercer is hard to find! But Walter has done an excellent job with all of Cody's, so I trusted his choice. We make plans to go and while we are there, Cody will be getting something done, too. The over-all atmosphere there good. All the employees seem to have fun together and at the same time, I feel very confidant with the way that Walter handles himself professionally.

Cody gets his work done first. He is in the middle of a project with his eyebrows and on this day, would be getting his second set of the three part piercing. While he was being worked on, I was able to watch. On his first eyebrow, Walter ran into a knot of scar tissue, making it extremely hard to get a needle through. He had to try it again with a cork and finally succeeded. It looked extremely uncomfortable for Cody...and I will admit, seeing his expressions during this process made me a little uneasy about the work that I was getting ready to have done. His looked very good when it was completed, so that reassured me a little. Plus, I was there, and I was not about to back out of it for any reason. I didn't want to have to hear about it for weeks to come..the fact that I chickened out!! So, it was my turn....

Walter went over the standard questions you get before a piercing.(Regarding my HIV status, etc.) I confirmed that I was clean and prepared totally for what was about to happen. I sat back in the chair and laid my head back for him to check out the area.

He had to clean of a little make-up and took his marking stick in hand. The first side was marked fairly quickly and I hopped up to check out in the mirror if this was what I was looking for. I was pleased with what I saw so Walter proceeded. He told me to tuck my hands behind my back. I asked him if he was serious and he definitely was. He was trying to avoid any type of battery that he may experience during the piercing! (He had had a previous experience that he wasn't trying to go through again...) I complied and he began. He applied the clamps which I have heard is the most painful part of it. Well, good for me, I didn't think that it hurt a bit. Butterflies began to churn and I felt the adrenaline flow. He picked up his needle and told me to take a deep breath. There was a stick...exhale and a feeling of warmth as the needle went through. Wow!!! Not bad..it didn't hurt a bit. Walter motioned for Cody to come over to look at something. He was pointing out a piece of something on the needle. "This is fatty tissue..and sometimes the needle will pull some through," he explained. He told me that I had just gotten some free liposuction with today's piercing. Thanks a lot, Walter, but I really needed that on my thighs!! I was disgusted, but he assured me that there are fatty pockets all over the face and it wasn't uncommon. You learn something new everyday, even in tattoo shops!!! I felt trickle of blood run down my face. He continued and ran my jewelry through. No pain there either. Wiping it off a little, he told me I could check it out. I was so happy!! I couldn't wait to get the other side done. It was a little more difficult than the first side. Walter had to take extra time to mark the spots. A symmetrical piercing is more difficult to achieve than a regular single one. He took his time, marked and remarked, until he got it looking right. He apologized for the time he took, but like said, feel free because I am the one who has to walk around with them. The second side was just a little more painful and pulle "\Ãw€ë d out just a little more fat, but I won't complain about that.

Overall, the experience was a good one and I am very pleased with the outcome. After cleaning me up with a little saline and providing me with some aftercare instruction, I walked out with my new Cat Eye's and I love them!! Definitely one of the least painful piercings I have endured and hopefully one I won't see someone else walking down the street with anytime soon!!
