It was a good six months since my last piercing and I was ready for a new one. After searching through pictures I finally decided on a horizontal eyebrow piercing. So when my state tax return finally showed the first thing on my mind was, lets go to Third Dimension! My mom didn't look very pleased but she took me anyway. Getting all hyped up about it walking into the shop to my dissapointment, no Burt. I talked to the other piercer, Abby and she reccomended that I wait for Burt and make an appointment. So, Tueday at 1:30 PM was set.

My mom on the otherhand wasn't very thrilled. She tried talking me into trying somewhere else, but since Third Dimension has done six different holes in me successfully it would be worth the wait. She even talked to our neighboor that has a shop in the area about it and made me look like a fool. Tuesday morning came and I was nervous but excited. I thought about changing my mind and getting the left side of my lip pierced since I spent the money I was gonna use for the piercing on Taco Bell and smokes, but mom came to the rescue.

Hopping into the car I didn't know that I was bringing the effin' circus with me. My cousin decided to come along. Enough to piss me off and for once not be thrilled to be getting something pierced. I knew the drill, fill out form, have i.d. ready, sit in chair and prepare to be amazed.

The first words out of Burt's mouth that the success rate of horizontal eyebrow piercings weren't very high. I didn't know that and it freaked me out just a little bit. I noticed that the little working tray seemed to have more gadgets and q-tips than I have ever seen. It hit me, this isn't a joke. Burt pinched my eyebrow, getting a feel for it. He had to tell me to relax my face. Usually while getting pierced I'm pretty relaxed but with my cousin telling me to get something else pierced was driving me crazy. Thankfully she left the room only to talk crap to my mom about how much of a risk I was taking.

Next thing I know Burt was running something along my eyebrow. I didn't know it at the moment but he was taking off some of my eyebrows, hair near the piercing is a bad thing. Using the purple dye he made the marks of where it was going to be pierced, double checking it to make sure it was right. I just sat there in silence and anticipation.

Seemingly out of nowhere I hear Burt saying, take a deep breath in. Yes! What I've been waiting to hear! The piercing was more painful than anything else done before. My eyes were closed so tightly and I had a tear running down from my left eye. I thought that it went totally across my eyebrow. My mom stepped in the room half way through. "You should've taken some of her brain with it." I laughed the needle in my face and all, my eyes still closed. The familiar sting of the jewelry being put in. Unlike the previous two surface piercings that dumb me got done somewhere else the barbell was different, it was actually shaped for something like this instead of being bent by some dumb girl that thinks she knows what she's doing.

I opened my eyes and looked at myself. Whoa?! Nice I thought. I bolted out of the chair to check it out after sitting there for a second. That's when I realized that some of my eyebrow was gone. Got the affirmative "nice looking" nods from Burt and Abby. Along with some specific aftercare instructions, keeping my hair out of my face and while cleaning the piercing make sure my eyebrows aren't in the way. Along with the handy dandy aftercare instructions. Paid for my wonderful new adornment with dread.

My mom was pretty pissed off about it at first. Though, as Burt put it, it's my body she doesen't have to wear it. That made me feel a whole lot better about it, walking out of the shop with my head held high. It's been two whole weeks and the piercing is doing pretty well. I cut my bangs so everyone can see it and I don't have to worry about hair in my face. It has been hard to not sleep on that side of my face, but it's worth it. A lot of people have asked me if it hurt only for me to reply, "more than all of my other piercings put together". I have yet again overcome emotional pain with physical pain making myself stronger with the jewelry to prove it.
