Well it all started when I came home from school with my mate and her boyfriend I was bored and had recently been obsessed over getting my hand web pierced, god knows where the idea came from but I wanted it badly and had to have it. I had to beg my mum to let me have it done she agreed as long as I hide it from my father as his morals consist of "if we were meant to have holes in our bodies with metal through them god would have put them there!" which is ironic as he does not even believe in god the hypocrite.

We went into town to Berserk a lovely place I had been there many times and found the piercer polite, honest and trustworthy. I had enquired about the piercing a few weeks ago he warned me of the high rejection rate and that it would only cost twelve pounds, which made me want it done more.

Whilst there my friend decided to get her tragus done so I made her go first having already had it done twice! She got made to lay down after feeling dizzy at the sight of blood needless to say she didn't feel all to better after watching me have my hand done.

Soon it was my turn I sat down and watched him carefully mark out where the piecing should be, getting more and more excited for my new bar. I was surprised at myself I wasn't nervous at all. He cleaned it and clamped it if anything this was the most painful part were the nip your skin and then began putting the needle it seemed to be in slow motion and waiting for it to come through the other side seemed to take for ages. I was more amused at my friends boyfriend's face he looked like he was going to throw up and had an expression of utter disgust as he saw him push the needle through my hand but all the same was fun.

I looked to see the needle come out the other side hardly felt it, was a slight pinch and was over the plastic part was left in my hand it bent the needle and put it in the needle bin he the proceeded to put a ring through it I was happy with the ring as the the few people I knew had it done had a bar, he insisted this was more appropriate for the movement of my hand, which I later learned he was very right when I changed it to a bar and caught it all the time.

I loved it so much everybody thought it was wrong but I didn,t care this was so me, I eventually showed my father he dubbed it horrible and un natural which I took as a good response ,although it proved unpractical after a few months of joy with my new web piercing but problems arose when I booked some gigs it meant I had to be extra careful which proves difficult in a pit and I was disappointed about having to pay more attention to my hand than the gig.

I cleaned it everyday with salt, tee tree oil and took zinc for a while it healed well and I actually thought it would last, until after boxing it bled really bad and after that continually builded up with discharge, it got worse and doing ordinary stuff got painful like washing my hair, putting make up on and some hand movements proved painful.

It began to look less and less appealing and the bar was becoming visible the skin started to peel and became very dry I knew it was growing out , I thought I'd leave it to push its way out but unfortunately after putting up with it for about two months I just had to take it out. As it almost reduced me to tears at the slightest knock or even moving my hand, by this point had become very infected and was just constantly green. It's likely that the reason it didn't last long was due to lack of care due to exams and the usual dirty lifestyle I lead, I miss having it done my hand felt strange when i removed it but it was a releif after it had become sore i hope will have it redone in the not too distant future even though rejection is high, mine lasted altogether about six months if not more and for £12.00 that's a good deal.

I would advise anyone who is passionate about piercing to get this done but don't expect it to last long if your a busy person and slightly careless like me and have difficulty remembering to clean them more than once a day.
