The first time I saw a Nape piercing, I hated it. I thought it was one of those stupid attention things. But the more I thought about it the more it seemed appealing, and soon I knew that I had to have one. So I went to talk to my piercer about what I wanted and He said cool but that he would have to order the supplies to do it first. Which was fine with me, I was no where near ready for such a procedure and needed time to prepare.

Well time went by and I had some other things pierced and would check in to see what the deal was with the supplies. There was some mix up and the order was delayed. After that the piercer was moved up state to another branch of the shop and the shop in my town closed down. So I gave up on my surface piercing and started on my tattoo collection. I was not comfortable with any of the other piercers in town so I put it out of my head.

Then my tattoo artist told me he was opening his own shop and and my piercer was going to come back and work there. So a couple of months later,(me and the piercer had dated and become personal friends by this time.) I sent him a text(On my cell phone.) asking when we would do this nape and he replied, tommorrow after I get off work. OH God. Now I would actually have to do it. This was all going down a little sooner than I expected it to. But I would do it.

So the next day me and a friend go for my appointment and they do my friends bellybutton first. Then its my turn. I was really nervous but I went through with it. This was actually the first time that the piercer, big john, had ever done a surface piercing and had a more expierenced piercer there to guide him. So they began to mark my neck and to massage my muscles to loosen things up.At one point they literally had me scruffed like a cat. It was a very weird sensation and I deeply appologize to all those furry pets that I have scruffed in my veterinary assistant career. They have me move my head around and changed the placement several times till they are satisfied that it is centered and straight.

So everthing is ready and its time to start. I have read others expirences on BME and heard that it dosnt hurt all that bad. To which I thought "Whatever pain freaks!" I was prepared for pain, and fully expected to hit the floor or throw up. I am a HUGE pain wuss. They tell me to breath and I know its coming.I could feel the needle resting on the mark and I started to panic when he started to push it in, But the other piercer was standing in front of me and told me to relax, that I was ok and he started to joke to take my mind off it.(An impossible task but it helped) It was a slow piercing. Took him a while to get the needle through. Im not to sure how long it took, about three deep breaths or so. John kept asking me how I was doing and I was fine. I really will say that the pain wasnt that bad. it was more of a burning sensation. The whole experiance was intense. Not intense painfull, just intense.

John Pushes the tygon through, which takes a bit of work and attaches the balls. Then he cleans me up.(Apparantly I bleed a bit, or so my friend tells me later. I a soo glad i didnt know that while we were there)For the last few minutes of the procedure we had an audience, (Besides me, my friend and the two piercers.) which was fine, it actually preoccupied me from what was going on.

They tell Me to stand up and ask how I feel, no spots no swirling rooms. I guess I was pretty pale throughout this and I vaguely hear the other piercer tell my friend to make sure I eat or get some orange juice. But besides my sore muscle and stiff neck I Feel GREAT! I am still a little afraid to move my neck to far one may or the other but I will be ok. John did a great job on my nape and I love It!

Well some pictures are taken and we say our goodbyes and leave for some pizza. while im not sure how to hide this from my mom(Im leagle but a mom will be a mom)I am pleased on my new piercing. So to all my fellow pain wusses who are contemplating a nape Pircing, do it! If I can handle it so can you!And to anyone in the springfield area i strongly reccomend Big john. He is wonderful piercer and I wouldnt go to anyone else.
