O.K so let's start from the start. About 4 weeks ago I just had a little thought pop into my head that I would like to get a hand web piercing. I haven't really been bothered by them before but as my addiction with piercing continues anything goes! I mentioned it to my fiancé who at first wasn't too keen on the idea, about a day later I think he "jokingly" said we should both get it done and have matching piercings...which we had considered before but not in this particular place. Lets just say he didn't know what he got himself in for when he said that joke!

Location Stafford It was coming up to his birthday so I used the excuse that I'd buy him the piercing for his birthday, that way he couldn't say no! I don't think he actually thought we'd go through with it and that it was just one of my crazy ideas.
So sure enough a few days later after supplying ourselves with sugary drinks we toddled along to our piercing place where I have recently visited on numerous occasions to do the deed. I was thrilled to see my favourite piercer was working, (he has an apprentice that I don't like as much). My fiancé wanted to go first because he had never had a body piercing before and wanted to get it over with so I had to watch. I held his hand as his face got pale and the look on his face told me it hurt A LOT, he had more skin on his hand though so there was more to get through. He went dizzy so sat down, he tried to hold my hand as he felt obliged but I told him to go back because he looked on the verge of collapse.
So it was my turn, I couldn't back out now! The piercer did all the cleaning etc and put on a fresh pair of gloves while I sat on the white bench taking in the smell (for some reason I love the smell of the piercing place). He marked on where he would pierce and explained that I had less skin because of being a girl so there was less to grab onto. He sprayed my hand with the numbing stuff...personally I think he was a bit stingy with it as he seemed to put loads on when I had my surface piercings. I couldn't stop grinning, whenever I get a piercing I just grin like mad and pretend it isn't happening and babble on about anything I can!
I have to say this was the most PAINFUL piercing I have ever had! The needle going in wasn't overly bad;I even watched as he pushed it in; it hurt more than my other piercings but when it was time for the jewellery that was the worst. I could really feel it go in and it seemed to scrape a bit, even I went a bit giddy afterwards.
The pain after was also the WORST ever, my fiancé and me had two hands between us so we managed but we had to have painkillers which helped a lot, and full hand movement didn't really arrive until after at least a week later!
Unfortunately I forgot at the time that I had dance exams coming up so I had to quickly order a labret retainer, as I was not willing to lose the piercing altogether. I know it wasn't healed and now it will probably take longer to heal but I had to change the jewellery: but it did the trick, I didn't lose the piercing. However it did irritate it and make it sore for a while, I was frightened it might reject but it seems to have settled down again now...phew!
So word of warning to those considering this piercing; I wouldn't advise getting both hands done at the same time as you could experience what it would be like to be handicapped as I struggled with one! Also I think it's a piercing that should be well planned... not planning on doing anything dirty like gardening or playing instruments or any jobs that would frown on it because it is pretty visible. You also have to be prepared for pain, I have a high pain threshold and even I found it pretty bad!
But now the pain is practically forgotten, me and my fiancé are left with two stunning piercings that get either looks of disgust, astonishment or intrigue with various different comments from anyone who should see them...they are FANTASTIC. After all those words of warning and comments about pain I do really love this piercing and it is one of my favourites. I love changing the balls on the barbel, sparkly stones are very pretty as they catch the light so it's noticed more...and well it's there to be noticed!
