In December of 2004 I finally decided to get my first body piercing. Because I had many scholarship interviews, honors college interviews, etc. coming up in the near future, I did not want a piercing that was visible. I also come from a conservative family and they would definitely not approve (in fact they would throw a fit) of my body modification.

After voicing my concerns and needs to my friend Kodi, she advised me to get my pubis pierced. Her boyfriend had it done and absolutely loved it. I talked to her about it including all the pros and cons and her likes and dislikes. She advised me to get my piercing a bit higher, about and inch to an inch and a half above the base of the penis. I said ok and we planned my piercing date on a day we would both be free.

On a weeknight in December, about a week before Christmas, we met at the piercing parlor. I met Carissa who is a good friend of Kodi's and has done all of her piercings. I told Carissa what I wanted and she said it was doable. She informed me that she would use a 3/8 14 gauge curved barbell for the piercing. She warned me of the risks of rejection and the high migration rate. She also gave me a sheet and stressed the importance of saltwater rinses and cleanliness. Carissa was very professional, courteous, and careful. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to get pierced in Southwest Missouri.

After filling out all the necessary paperwork and forking out 60 bucks, Carissa took me into the piercing booth. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the place. She made sure that I watched her open the needles and the actually jewelry from their sterile sealed baggies. Everything was brand new. She slipped on her gloves and I slipped off my pants.

She used a stainless steel ruler that she pulled out of the autoclave and a marker to mark my midline and the dots where the needle would enter and exit. She let me look in a full length mirror and confirm that the placement is where I wanted it and centered. After I saw that it was where I wanted it, I sat down in the chair and waited patiently for her to actually remove the needle from the packaging. After she clamped me, she had me take a few deep breaths and counted to three before she pushed the needle through.

The piercing actually wasn't too terribly painful. I cant compare it to any other piercings because this is the only one I have had. It was definitely tolerable. After she pulled the needle out and inserted the jewelry, she cleaned the area up. Bleeding was very minimal. Just a quick swab under each of the balls of the jewelry and I was out the door.

After I got home, I called my girlfriend and she came over to the house. I told her I had a surprise for her. I showed her the piercing and she flipped. She would have never thought that I would actually get a body piercing. She went bananas over it. She said it was the coolest piercing she had ever seen.

The next evening, I took her to Carissa so she could get hers done. Carissa had never heard of a female getting this piercing done on that part of the body. She went through the same steps with her as she did with me and she ended up with the cutest little piercing I had ever seen. It looks amazing on a female. Samantha took the pain like a pro. Carissa commented on what a wuss I was compared to her. She didn't even flinch and watched the whole thing.

I was very meticulous with the cleaning of my piercing. I did everything she told me to do down to a T. My piercing healed very well and I was extremely happy with the results.

In late April my piercing started to migrate, despite of how well I had taken care of it. It kept getting worse so I finally decided to remove the jewelry for good. I have had it out a week and I miss my piercing terribly. I plan to soon get it redone except this time I will have it done wider and use a surface bar instead of a curved barbell.

My girlfriend ,who got this piercing to match mine purely for aesthetic reasons, healed hers just fine and it is still doing very well. Mike's didn't heal and he ended up losing as I did to migration. The success rate for this piercing is not very high but you will never know unless you try. My girlfriend is extremely happy with hers and it is by far her favorite piercing. I will get mine re-pierced soon and give it another shot.
