I've not really been into piercings very long, like when everyone was getting their ears pierced I was drawing on my arm, yeah I was more tattoo lover, but I changed my mind when my brother got his lip done, its his fault that I'm getting obsessed. I started a job in December and since then I've been getting a piercing with every pay check, although my mum bought my first two as a present last summer.

So I only started on my piercings last year and I only have six so far but I'm trying to build them up without upsetting my mum too much, I don't know what drew me to having a surface piercing because I don't know anyone that's got one, so maybe that was it.

I did a bit of research on what sort I could get and in the end I went for a couple of inches below my navel which I got pierced at the same time, heat of the moment.

I had only been to this studio once when I got my tragus pierced, I would have gone to access all areas but I didn't have long before I had to start work. It's a clean place anyway and I haven't had any problems with them so it just seemed a smarter thing to do.

I was quite nervous as I didn't have a clue of the pain factor, I met up with my friend in town and we went for a coffee and a couple of hundred cigarettes first so I could prepare myself.

When I got to the studio the receptionist didn't understand what I wanted done which was quite scary so I explained to her which isn't very comforting. So I chose the bar I wanted on my navel filled out a form and went through, I got in the room and he showed me different ways I could have the piercing and then he asked which piercing I'd like first I went with the navel. That was quick and painless which made me think how mardy some people are when they have it done.

Then he cleaned my stomach and sprayed it a few times with the freeze stuff, then he clamped it a bit still no pain. He cut down the plastic bar to the size I wanted.

So now I was getting very nervous, he asked me if I was ok, and then started to push the needle through, it stung a little, the look on my mates face wasn't helping. He then started to push the bar through which was quite uncomfortable. Then voila it was done, he got a mirror and showed me, I loved it, and it was proper cool. He told me he'd put the plastic bar through so it would heal nicely, and I should come back in a few weeks to get it trimmed down.

Jordan said it was quite a deep piercing, which made me feel quite proud, I'm hardcore now.

He told me to clean it three times a day with savalon wound wash and not to wear anything too tight.

So off I went showing anyone I knew, even though it was bleeding slightly.

It was sliding to the sides slightly so I went back a few weeks ago and got it trimmed, its still not quite healed yet so I don't want to put a metal bar in, I might just give it a few more weeks. My navel has healed well. I think I'm going to loose a bit of weight and get them skinny tees out so everyone can see them. Another thing I like about my new piercing is that no matter what you wear you can see the balls through my top like when its cold and you haven't got a bra on, its great.

I measured the length of my bar and its 4cm in length, I don't regret it at all.

My mum said it was gross but I didn't expect anything less from her, although she told my dad that I'd had it done because she thought it might go bad, which I thought was a bit over the top he didn't seem bothered though which annoyed my mum.

All my friends' love it, the mate I went with and my sister are both thinking of getting a surface piercing now, which is irritating, you try be original and then everyone copies.

I've had a few problems with it because I used a stronger wash than what they said so I've had it checked and now it's healing nicely, it hurts a bit when I catch it but I'm quite careless so it's my fault. I love my new piercing its my favourite yet! I'd definitely recommend surface piercing because they've still got a bit of uniqueness to them. It really isn't that painful either it hurts more when someone pinches you.
