When I first started with piercing other people I had the pleasure of piercing one of my best friends. It turned out a major screw up, because I was thinking that piercing was nothing more then jamming a needle through someone's skin. It's not it's something more complicated. Without proper knowledge and proper precautions it's a pretty dumb thing to do to your friends, so let this be a warning to all of you interested in piercing yourself and your friends. Don't do it unless you know what you're doing and what to do when something goes wrong. Piercing is creating an open wound, that is in direct contact with the outside environment so it's very easy to get infected.

This story starts again with the friend I mentioned above, it's someone who is really close to me, and whom I care a lot. I've been a year and a half further and over 100 piercings richer in experience so I had a better idea of what I'm doing now then back then. It's thanks to all my friends who supported me in that year and half and who where my guinea pigs that I'm a lot better then before. Let's just call my friend B. for the convenience, B. called me up and asked if I would like to do a cleavage surface piercing. I told her that I had done that piercing before but not that many times, I wanted to be completely honest with her. "Do you think you can do it?" she asked, I responded that it wasn't a problem to do it, after all I had done several other surface piercings that where successful after a long period of time. We agreed to go for a drink first to catch up on old times and do it right after it at my place.

After we had some drinks and talked about how things had changed since we last met, we went to my place. I prepared the area I use as piercing area, this would be one of the last times I would do it here because I'm in the middle of moving out to another apartment. I went back to B. and I started to explain the aftercare procedure. "I can't remember you did that the first time you pierced me" she said. Like I said things changed a lot in those 18 months. Take one spoon of sea salt and a cup of hot water, mix the salt through it and place the cup with the salt water solution up your piercing for 5 minutes 2-3 times each day. I also told her that it was better to clean 3 times a day then 10 times because over cleaning can destroy newly formed tissue and slow down the healing process. After that we proceeded to the piercing area and we got started.

I put on my first pair of latex gloves, always use more then one pair to eliminate the danger of cross contamination as good as it's possible, I cleaned the place with iso-betadine and then cleaned it with a decontamination tissue. I changed my gloves and I took my skin marker to mark up the best looking spot for the cleavage piercing, after that was done it was time to get busy. Again I changed my gloves, you can better use a glove to much then one to less, I opened the pouch with my clamp in it and picked up her skin, I didn't put a lot of pressure on it so the skin wouldn't be traumatized when the needle went through, actually I use the clamp as a tool to lengthen my fingers. I placed the needle against the first mark and told her to breath in deep and breath out calmly. I went through the skin in one smooth move without hurting her to much she said. I cut of the cannular and placed the jewelry against it and shoved it through. Afterwards B. said it stings a little bit when you pulled the surface bar through. I screwed on the balls and it was done.

I proudly can say that this is one of the finest cleavage piercings I ever did, and I'm glad it's on a person I really care about. She's really happy with it, and there's nothing better then see a person being happy with a new piercing you did. That's the reason I didn't give up in the beginning when I wasn't that good as I am now, the expressions on the faces you see and how grateful they are afterwards is to die for. Anyone who pierces knows where I'm talking about. It's not just jamming a needle through some skin, it's creating art and the body is your canvas.

Don't pierce anything without informing yourself about the piercing, about the human body and how it will react on the new piercing and never pierce yourself but go to a professional.
