I've been wanting so many piercings throughout my life but I've always been scared. My mom told me I should get my nose pierced but I chickened out of that too. One day my cousin came up and showed me her nose. Desperate and Determined not to be out done I went and got my nose pierced the following day.

After that I became absolutely addicted. I wanted another as fast as possible. But where could I get it done? My work is kinda strict on facial piercings so my lip was out of the question. I remembered a long time ago at a club I had seen a girl with a wrist piercing. It was so beautiful and I realized I wanted that one. So a week after my nose was pierced I called up my friends and we headed out to the only place that we knew that did surface piercings, The Electric Chair.

I figured people would look at me wierd when I asked if I could get my wrist pierced but instead everyone working there was thrilled. Apparently they don't get many surface piercings in there so any chance to do one was greatly appreciated. Brandon, the piercer, even asked if he could have pictures taken while he was doing the procedure. I of course said yes, I mean I planned on taking pictures myself.

So we picked out the jewelry which was a 14G plastic white bar. Plastic, Brandon said, was the best because surface piercings have a high chance of rejecting so the plastic wouldn't put as much pressure on it and the body would have an easier time accepting it. Whatever. I just wanted to get the thing over with.

We stepped into the back room but I had to wait about 10 minutes while he pierced another girl's lip since he said mine would take longer to prep for. While I was waiting everyone in the place was asking me about why I wanted it or if I was nervous. Hell yea I was nervous but I wanted it so nothing was going to stop me.

He finally told me to come on back and said it would be a little longer while he finished prepping. He put some iodine type thing on my skin and let it sit there for a little bit. He washed that off and marked my skin for me. He had me stand up straight with my arms at my sides while making a fist.

It was around this time that my heart started beating really fast. I had no idea what to expect so I was all alone in this despite the fact that there was about 4 other people in the room holding cameras. Brandon told me that the clamp wasn't holding up my skin very well and he didn't want it to come loose mid piercing. Luckily his assistant had come in 5 minutes before and agreed to strap on some gloves and hold my skin up while he put the needle in.

Then came the moment of truth. He cleaned my skin on my wrist and they discussed for a moment about how to go about it. He told me to take a couple deep breaths and then he was going to put the needle in. I breathed in and just as I was breathing out I felt a bit of pressure and I hear "All done". That was it??? The whole thing took about 5 seconds literally. I think the pressure that I felt was the needle coming out the other side but it wasn't painful just wierd.

The problem that came after was that the jewelry was stuck to the needle. They were having a hard time getting it out but 4 seconds later it was out and all that was left was a beautiful bar going through my wrist. I was so relieved that it went so well (and pain free).

He explained to me all the after care instructions and how I should take extra caution when putting on clothes and what not, to avoid snagging. I thanked him, tipped him, and went on my way.

Well I've had it for about 3 months now and has not rejected so I'm relieved. For anyone considering this piercing I say be prepared to be patient. It takes a long time to heal, in fact, mine is still healing. It also gets snagged on a lot of things so be careful. It also does tend to get nasty when it crusts and sometimes swollen which always made me nervous but I took extremely good care of it.

I do in fact plan on getting my other one done to match it and maybe my middle finger pierced as well. It is in fact my favorite out of all my piercings.
