About three months before my birthday my friend and I were looking on the BME site and saw the hand web piercings and fell in love with them. We did a little research on them and got a hint of what was to be expected. We knew that they had a high chance of rejecting but we decided to do it anyway. So I told her that we would go get them done on my birthday, sort of a bonding experience since it was both of our first piercing besides our ears.
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When Three months ago Artist Mark Studio Deep Woods Tattoo and Piercing On my birthday we went to a tattoo and piercing shop and asked them about hand web piercing and the lady told us not to get them and that they would reject but we already knew that and decided to not go there because of the caution the piercer had. To me piercers are there to tell you the risks and actually do the piercing. So we decided to go to a different place considering, the piercing lady had a problem with doing this particular piercing. We ended up at this place called Deep Woods tattoo and piercing, it is a total clean place considering it is in some guys house out in the woods hence the name Deep Woods, we talked to the guy and looked at his collection of beautiful body modifications and decided that we were going to go for it.
The piercer told us all about the risks of infection and rejection and asked us if we still wanted to go through with it and of course we said "yes!!".
I was going first and my friend told me not to scream and if I did she would run out the door. So I was sitting in the chair, scared as could be and he put the clamp on my hand and it put a lot of pressure on it and within a few sec.'s he stabbed the needle into my hand between my thumb and fore-finger. There was a little bit of blood but not to much. It was a great rush and I made sure I wasn't to dizzy before i stood up. The only thing that really hurt was when he put the ring in, he had a little trouble getting the ball in the ring. When both of us were done he told us the aftercare stuff like how we were suppose to soak it in sea salt and wash your hands with non-fragrance soap and not to use smelly lotions.
My hand was pretty much numb for an hour after but when the feeling came into play it felt like needles in my hand or sort of a pinch, it was more weird feeling. I didn't realize how much I used my left hand until I got it pierced, I couldn't do a lot of things like fold laundry or pull my hair back. It sucked for the first month or so. I was allergic to nickel and if you have this allergy really, really bad like I do no matter how much people say it, surgical steel has nickel in it. My arm broke out in a rash so I called the piercer and he said that I could change my ring to a plastic one and that cleared it right up. The thing with plastic rings are that they are very delicate and can break very easily so you have to be VERY careful.
About two days after I got my piercing I went to a party and slide down the stairs when to grab the railing. Man did that hurt!! I noticed the next morning that out of the one of the holes of my ring a little flesh was starting to emerge out of the hole, as horrible as this may sound it didn't hurt and I just continued to soak it. I started putting Neosporin ointment on it but not too much because it can clog the pores and I only used it for about a week and it cleared right up.
Some things that I had to come into grips with is the puss and goobers that I woke up to about every morning. Some times it reminds me of the sleep stuff that is in your eyes in the morning. It was gross but the piercing was awesome.
Now it is about 3 months since I got my piercing, I still love it but i'm not sure if it is ever going to heal. It always gets infected and you have to be really careful not to hit it on anything. It could be rejecting but I must say that it's worth it. But all in all I would've done it even if I knew how much work it is. I wouldn't recommend web piercing as a first piercing experience because of all the maintenance it requires.
