Eight days ago I got my hand web pierced. It is not one of the sanest things I have ever done. I work as a secretary at a music school so I am in contact with a lot of people and get it caught often. Even with that it is healing nicely.

I'll explain why I got it done. This happens to be my 13th piercing. Lucky number 13 right? I have one professional tattoo and 5 self done tattoos. I think I just like pain. What started me wanting this piercing was looking on this site. It gave me ideas. I have always wanted more piercings on my face (I only have my eyebrow on my face) but since I work for a music school I cant. They already don't like the fact that I have my eyebrow done but can do nothing about it cause they hired me after I got it done.

I had planned on piercing my hand web myself. But then talked myself out of it because of all the horror stories of hand web piercings migrating and getting infected. I figured if I got it professionally done then it will have more chances on staying in longer.

I had asked a friend, Mike, to come along with me when I got it done for fear I would chicken out and someone to just hang out with after. After picking up Mike, he didn't have a car yet, I was off to Spider-Bite. Now I live a good 45 minutes away but having to pick Mike up made it an hour journey at least. I know that is a long drive but I trust the guys there and so do all my pain loving friends.

I hadn't been up to Spider-Bit in a long time, about a year, so I almost got lost. It was so fun though; Mike and I were singing and just laughing so much. I'm glad he was with me cause I felt better about it.

Once there I told them what I wanted and he asked if I wanted a ring or a curved barbell. I hadn't thought this far ahead so I asked him what he suggested. He asked what I did for a job and I told him and he said to get the barbell. If he wouldn't have told me what to get I think I would have picked a barbell; I have more luck with barbells. They heal faster on me.

So here came the 15 minute wait that I hate. Looked around the shop cause they sell swords, throwing stars, daggers, etc., and of course a huge selection of piercing jewelry. So we looked around and looked at the books and I was called in. I asked if Mike could watch cause he wanted to so badly and he told me as long as this other girl can watch. I didn't care so I let them both watch. It was done like all normal piercings except he had to check for my nerve because there is a nerve in your hand that runs right next to were it's pierced that goes to your brain. So I suggest that you trust your piercer with your life cause that is what they have; your life in their hands.

So cleaned, marked, clamped and ready to go. He sticks it through. I will be honest with this. It hurt so much that I don't recommend this done unless you are seriously into pain. I never realized how sensitive that area is. After the barbell was in and everything was set with it I had to pay. I did, we talked a little and I went out to my car to drive home. Big mistake was putting my keys in my left pocket; my left hand was the hand pierced. Mike had to go into my pocket to get my keys; I didn't want to hit it and it hurt still.

It was very sensitive for about 2 days. About 6 days after I changed the barbell to a ring. Big mistake for me. I ended up loosing the ball and then Mike (he is everywhere huh?) had to put it back in cause I left my tool at home that I do that with. It hurt so much that when I got home that night I put the barbell back in.

Today I went to Hot Topic and bought new balls for the ends, it has jewels in it. I must say that I love my hand web. It had turned out to be my favorite piercing. I love freaking people out with it. I, to my knowledge, am the first one in my town to get it pierced. How cool is that? I know this will not be my last unusual piercing though. I'm addicted!
