Welp, it was spring break and my boyfriend, my best friend and I were hitting I 25 from Colorado for a road trip. We planned on going to Albuquerque, Flag Staff, and Las Vegas. We weren't sure on what we were doing, where we going, or where we were going to stay or anything like that, but it was better that way and all three of us knew it.

I have a friend that lives there and it's one of the closer big cities to my town. It was our second night there and as we were driving Central trying to find something to do, I came up with a winner of an idea. Piercings! Why yes! We're young, we're on a road trip to god only knows where, and two of us already have piercings in mind. So I call my friend Kim that used to live in Alb. She gives us directions to Ten in One and off we go. We finally find the place and there are people suspended from trees with rings up and down there backs and legs and what not. I was a little freaked, but I figured these guys must know what they're doing if they're hanging people from trees and they're still alive.
My kick Arse little friend Durty wants an industrial in his ear and I want my nape of course. How could you not want it? My boyfriend Ronnie likes the pure idea so he decides to stay out of the piercing fun. Durty and I are in. We know what we want. The piercer gets cleaned up, and everything ready. I'm nervous but I'm excited. I've wanted this for a long time.
I, of course, make Durty go first. Steve (the piercer) did his friend's neck and called him up to bring him down there and show it to me. It was well done and I was ready. Durty gets his with a lot of cracking and a lot of blood. I feel really bad for the little fella. He was definitely a bleeder. By this time I'm really stoked and I can't wait. I lay belly down after he draws on my neck and makes me and everyone in the shop check the alignment. He cleans me up really nice and good and then clamps me. The needle going in wasn't so bad (I mean it didn't really feel good) but when he placed the tygon in it really didn't feel good. It was hurtful, I'm not gonna lie, but I knew there would be pain, I mean it was my neck for crying out loud! Steve puts on the balls (which didn't feel too awesome either) and off I go! He hands me some sea salt, mutters some cleaning instructions, and tells me not to touch it! The less I touch it the faster it heals, he explains. Well, I touched it and I keep touching it, and I know it's wrong and bad, but it's in my neck! Tomorrow I'm going to make myself stop though, I know I'm starting to irritate it.
I was really weirded out by it. I still am! I just kept saying things like "Dude! There's a thing in my neck!" It's in my neck! My neck of all places!" I was excited. That next day that I had it, it didn't hurt at all. I couldn't even feel it really. I think it is a beautiful piercing. It's a little red right now, but I only had it done 5 days ago. It's hard getting used to having to be careful with the back of your neck of all places, but that will come with time. When I came back home I got a lot of compliments on it, and some people are really grossed out by it, but oh well. I'm having trouble it hiding it from my parents, hair irritates it and that's about the only thing I can hide it with. I don't think they would mind, really, but I'd rather not have them make me take it out. Sometimes they're cool with things like this, and sometimes they're not. Right now it's a little itchy, and it burns a little bit. It's a rockin piercing and people in my tiny little town are baffled because I'm a very plain jane looking kinda chick.
I'm taking good care of it with sea salt, Dr. Piercing's q-tip things, and dial soap! I'm hoping my body doesn't reject it, it's doing good so far! And to anyone that reads this: If you see someone with a nape piercing and you're intrigued, admire it from afar! Do not put your nasty bacteria filled hands on it! It's really no good for the piercing or the person your touching! We don't like it. Back out.
