Well...a litte background on me. I love piercings. I currently have 12 and have removed 5, 4 due to D.I.Y jobs and one due to it having gained infections many times. Now on to the story...

We were discussing all my piercings (current and previous) and I suggested having my hand-web pierced. No massive build-up, just a spur of the moment decision.
A friend of mine, Sandra, has done a few piercings on me in the past (all of which I have retired) and since I still had all of these at the time, I thought Sandra would be a good person to do this piercing. Unfortunately she wasn't at the youth club that night and I had to retire home unpierced and upset.
That night on the internet I found BME. I had no idea anyone else had this piercing until I found the section on hand-webs. I was fascinated and wanted this piercing even more than before. So I read all the story's and looked at the pictures and decided to tell Sandra the next week at the youth club.
It was a few weeks before I actually went back to the youth club as I had a few unexpected problems of being grounded and what not, but when I did go back I told Sandra about the idea I had. She thought it was brilliant and said she would do it for me that night. I was EXTATIC.
Origionally I'd planned to pierce it and replace the needle with a (14g/6mm) labret stud. However, since Sandra did not bring any proper piercing needles with her, I was forced to have a very unsterile saftey pin (keeping a leg of my friends trousers together) shoved through what little skin i have betweger my thumb and index finger.
The night progressed as I was told I had band practice that night in one of the practice rooms at the youth club. Of course I played drums for this band and you would have though I would put off getting my hand-web pierced until after practice. WRONG. I decided I'd get it pierced before it and show it off. Also since I'm right handed you would have thought I'd get my left hand-web pierced. Yep you guessed it, wrong again.
At around 8pm I sat down at a table with Sandra, said saftey pin and a few close friends...ok half the youth club. So, here we are at this table with around 30 people surrounding us waiting for said piercing. And I feel like chickening out. However, I have quite a reputation for taking pain and I wasn't about to let 30 people see me back out of a piercing...on we went.
Sandra checked for veins in my hand-web and found a suitable place to pierce. It was time. She told me to inhale and on the exhale she'd pierce me. And let me say...this was hardly sore at all. Although she did go rather slow and when she was about half way through my skin I told her to stop. It's not that it was sore it's just that I like my piercings straight and I'd developed the shakes. Moments passed and I told her to finish my piercing. That she did.
Unable to find an earring, Sandra clipped the saftey pin and admired her work. It was perfectly straight, although red and a teeny bit swollen as expected from a piercing. I went to my band practice.
Unable to open my hand I had to be excused and went to the toilet to run my, now red hot, hand under the cold water tap. This eased the tightness and I was able to open my hand again, although still unable to use it properly. I told my band I could not practice and went outside for a cigarette. My hand really started to throb by the time I'd finished and went back inside.
Inside again my hand was in terrible pain and I noticed that my piercing hand been ripped slightly when I'd tried to play drums only minutes earlier. So, I contemplated taking it out. However, I'm stubborn and told myself no as I'd wanted it for quite a while before I got it done. So it stayed.
Around half an hour later the pain was unbearable and I'd noticed that the piercing had ripped further out of my hand-web. Finally I decided it was time to retire my much loved piercing. I went to find Sandra.
She was disappointed to find that I had to take it out only hours after she'd done it but she understood and said she'd do it again with proper needles and equipment if I liked. I told her I'd think about it.
Taking it out was the worst part. It hurt like a bastard as the saftey pin seemed stuck in the "clipped" position. Luckily someone had eyebrow tweezers with them and I was able to remove this unsterile piece of metal from my now ACHING hand.
The entry and exit holes of my piercing had turned black where the "juices" of my body had corroded the metal of the saftey pin. It was disgusting but healed up just find with no scar to speak of.
All in all this was a wonderful experience and if I had the chance to redo what I did I wouldn't. This experience has taught me that you should NEVER EVER EVER pierce yourself with unsterile equipment ESPECIALLY a fucking saftey pin. I already knew not to do this but I did it anyway not knowing that I could have caused myself serious damage. So please please please please PLEASE DO NOT pierce yourself or let your friends pierce you unless they are a qualified piercer. Always go to a professional people. ALWAYS
