So like just about everyone else on this site, I've been totally fascinated and intrigued by piercings since I was young. I started off with all the basic stuff, navel, ears, nose, you know, the piercings "everyone has". That was largely due to the fact that I was under 18, and mom would only sign for so many things, before she decided I was getting "too extreme". Anyways fast forward a little, now I'm 20, and I'm up to 19 piercings... 7 in each ear including my tragus and conch, my navel, top and bottom, my nose, my nipples, my tongue web, and my newest surface piercing about an inch and a half below my navel a.k.a. a "horizontal navel".

I decided in July 2003 I was going to get my first surface piercing so I searched around for a while on BME, looked at a ton of beautiful pictures and decided on the surface piercing on my stomach. Since, I've turned 18 I've began to explore body art more and more, but unfortunately, I work at a retirement home, and as it turns out the elderly can only handle so much body modification, haha, so I can't do any extremely visible piercings. Although it's unfortunate it made me explore piercing further and it's resulted in a lot of beautiful piercings. I met my piercer James in Spring of 2003 when he did my tongue web, and I couldn't have been any happier. My regular piercer at Miraculous Creations had broken her ankle and was unable to work for a while... but I got the piercing itch so I just had James do it. I'm so happy I met him, Rose always did an amazing job as well, but I was just completely taken by James and his piercing style and attitude, so I've decided that James i s going to take over where Rose left off.

I made the appointment for August of 2003, even though I decided I wanted it in July I always like to give my self a few weeks just to make sure it's right for me at the time. I drove to worcester with a friend of mine, the shop is actually about 45 minutes from me, but they are so amazing their its worth the trip every time. I was really nervous, but for the clamps not the piercing. I just new it was gonna be a whole lot of skin shoved into a really small space, so that made me a little uneasy. When I got to the shop James came over to me checked out my tongue web to make sure it was still doing good (it was the 5th or 6th he had done and he did an AMAZING job). After we talked for a minute he told me he was going to make my jewelry and it would be a few minutes. It was pierced with tygon, and for those of you who don't know, it's basically just plastic jewelry, the fact that it is extremely light weight and flexible compared to barbells, it is much better for healing, and greatly reduces the chance of migration. So now is the worst part... the waiting...

About five minutes later James came out of the back room and showed me the jewelry. He made it an inch and a half long, although he was only piercing a little over an inch, it left room for cleaning. He brought me in the back room, set and cleaned everything up (MC is extremely clean), and pinned up my shirt to get ready for marking. The marking was by far the longest part of the procedure, overall probably lasting 10-15 minutes. I have my navel pierced top and bottom, so James really took his time to line it up best with my body and other piercings. After erasing and moving around the marks a few time, it was go time. James told me I would have to unbutton my pants and pull them down a little for the procedure. I was messin around with him and I said I felt naked, and he replied with... "hey you can get naked if you want to, but it's not necessary to the procedure." At that point I laughed and it loosened me up a little so I was totally ready. James has an amazing way of ma king me feel totally comfortable and every time I start to get kind of nervous he says something that makes me smile.

I laid down and here they come... the clamps. Now granted no matter what you do, clamping an inch and a half of skin, just isn't going to be a comfortable thing; however, James was awesome with them, he got them in the right position quickly and was as gentle as he could possibly be and still be effective. Before I even really had a chance to think about the clamps he told me to take a deep breath in, then you guys know the routine, I let it out and the needle went through. I was completely speechless, it was one of the greatest things I have ever felt. The pain was barely a factor and I had such an adrenaline rush I probably wouldn't have felt it anyways. I stood up and looked in the mirror with a little bit of the "euphoric adrenaline rush dizzies" but it looked amazing. I was so happy with the whole experience, and that day I knew I was going to take my interest in piercings to another level.

I talked to James for a few minutes then I left, feeling like I had just won the lottery and had really great sex or something ;). The rest of the day I was just on cloud nine and couldn't stop thinking about what the next piercing to bring me to MC would be. It's been about a month now and healing it going great. I'm still washing twice a day and doing sea salt soaks every night. I just started talking to James a few days ago and I sent him a few emails about what I want to do next. In the future I looking at a vertical and horizontal hood, a christina, two surface piercings on my hips and a temporary corset piercing, but those are just my ideas for now.If you're considering a surface piercing I really recommend it IF (and I say if with capital letters) you are good with aftercare. Surface piercings and a very long healing process and they need to be loved everyday! So thats my story, if you have any questions feel free to email me and if you're getting pierced in Massachus etts, Miraculous Creations is by far the best in the state. Happy piercing!
