Piercings are highly addictive! After having a few piercings done, my craving was growing increasingly intense. I was running out of places that could be pierced, I did not want any more on my face unless it was my labret. Therefore, I decided to go to my nape (back of my neck).

So when I entered Russell's studio - The Tunnel, I was very calm. Russ said to me "well what will it be today Sheri?" I let out a giggle and said the back of my neck please. He was so excited; he had only been doing tongues and belly buttons recently. It was a refreshing change for him to be doing a surface piercing. Russ got out all the forms and paper work required, he had already completed the parts he could recall form memory; (I was a regular) the rest, he left to me. I lay down on his table as he started to prepare all his tools and materials and clean my neck whilst talking to me. Russell doesn't talk me threw his piercing's much any more; I think he understands that I am familiar with the procedure. He marked my neck and then clamped it, told me to lower my chin and to breath in and out...in and out... in...out and he pushed! The resistance was unbelievable. I could feel his hands shaking and he tried to push this needle threw my flesh. It hurt more then any other piercing I have ever had. Finally, I felt the needle burst threw the other side and a sigh comes out of Russell.
He said 'Ok Sheri all done, just the jewelry now.' I was relieved to hear this, but it turned out that the piercing itself was the easy bit! The curved 14 gage barbell was forced threw while pushing the needle out at it moved. I was then cleaned up and it was picture time. Already having surface piercings on both my wrists, I was told to place both my hands on the back of my head, which made for a kick ass picture!
Following the picture session, Russell told me to clean my nape with 'Specro Gel' three times a day and try to ensure the area was kept wet. If possible to get some one else to clean it for me, which proved difficult, as no one wanted to touch it! He continued to tell me that sliding the barbell back and forth would make sure the inside would be maintained as well. This sliding procedure was somewhat painful at first but within a few days, this pain had subsided. Sleeping that night proved a painful ordeal, you see I sleep on my stomach, and even slight head or neck movements would result in a sharp pain besides this the pain was minimal. After I few weeks the piercing felt healed, there was no pain, I reduced the cleaning to once a day in the shower. The redness and swelling went away and I was left with a perfect nape piercing.
Every piercing shop I go to, every piercer that sees my nape asks me how long ago I had it done. When I tell them, it was over a year ago, they are in complete shock cause it has healed so well. I have been told that normally surface piercing grow out over time, but mine has held and looks great I am very pleased with it. I laugh every time I am in a line up or something and some one will reach out and touch my neck to see what these two little balls are sitting ever so steady on my neck; its great. So great, I went back for a second!
Russell has done such a great job on all my piercings, all have healed perfectly and none of them has ever become infected. If you have been thinking about getting a piercing and live near Alliston Ontario, then come to The Tunnel, it's a great place, has a very homey feeling and the prices are great. Russell is very professional and will always tell you how the procedure will go down and how to take care of the piercing after wards.
My parents do not mind my nape so much I guess cause you cannot really see it all that much, it is fun and different. I am on my way to getting six ranging from smaller barbells to larger as they go down, I think it will look sweet! I will be sure to write another passage when I finally get this accomplished. Will be a year or so yet but keep your eyes open when looking threw the pictures ill be there in glory with my six nape piercings.
