My nape experience
At A Glance Author cat Contact cat@bme.anon When A month ago Artist Kodie Studio Primal Urge Piercings Location perth, australia I was 14 the first time I ever saw someone with there nape pierced, it was on the streets of Dublin and I was instantly fascinated! The guy I saw had 3 separate piercings and they looked simply amazing. Since that day I wanted my nape done so much. 3 years past and I had had other piercings done, including my tongue, labret, nose, tragus, lobes stretched and a surface piercing below my navel. Despite my other piercing experiences my fascination with napes was still alive, so 3 weeks ago I decided I was getting it done. My best friend Mara came along with me to witness what she called my 'butchering'.
I went to the city and looked around for a good piercing place (the one I usually go to would not do it for me because she didn't have enough experience with surface piercings and she advised for me to go elsewhere). My friend has recently got his belly button and labret pierced at Primal Urge Piercings and highly recommended them so I thought I'd try there first. I had been too primal before to buy jewellery and was always impressed by how sterile it was and by the extremely friendly and helpful staff. I walked in and asked the girl at the counter (kodie) if I had to have an appointment, she said yes, a brief moment of disappointment followed, then kodie asked what I wanted done, I told her my nape and her eyes lit up! She said that she would fit me in right then! I was so happy. I was finally going to get my dream piercing!
I was given all the forms to fill out while Kodie got the jewellery ready. Kodie explained what type of jewellery she would have to use for it so as to allow for swelling. When it was all ready to go she took me into one of the piercing rooms and told me to lie down on the table, Mara came with me and sat at the end of the table repeating "Oh my god, can you not be getting ur freaking neck pierced?? This is so cool!!" I was so excited I just couldn't stop talking, I lay down with my hands under my forehead and she told me that it seriously wouldn't hurt and that she loves napes, that made me feel a lot better, also the fact that she had 3 very nice looking surface piercings on her arm reassured me quite a bit. She then cleaned my neck and marked it saying that my hairline helped a lot because it helped to see if the piercing would be straight. At this point I was getting nervous, she told me to relax, wiggle my toes and concentrate on them, so I lay there wiggling my toes as fast as I could. I didn't feel the needle go through my skin at all, it was really strange. Kodie then stopped to take a photo of the piercing with the needle through (she's building a c.v of her work). After the brief brake she put the jewellery in, that hurt a bit, but not too much. Then I was allowed to look at it!! It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and I couldn't of been happier! I'd waited so long to get it done and now I have it! Another few photos were taken for kodie's c.v and it was then covered up and I was given all of my after care and told to come back in 2 months to get the jewellery shortened. I walked out of the shop with the hugest grin on my face and felt like I was on cloud 9 for hours after!!
It's 3 weeks later and I am still very happy about it. It's healing very very well and looks great! At first I was very nervous about sleeping on my back, but it didn't prove to be a problem at all. I clean it twice a day, make sure not to get it caught on any clothes and try my best to prevent shampoo, conditioner and soap near it, other than that I don't have to worry about it at all. I have gotten a lot of different reactions from friends and family, most people think I am crazy and tell me that it's going to affect my spine, but others say it's great. I ignore the negative comments and lap up the positive ones!! All and all I couldn't be any happier! Kodie did a wonderful job and I am very pleased I highly recommend Primal Urge Piercing to anyone who lives in Pert, Western Australia and is thinking of getting something pierced. And I defiantly recommend Kodie as a piercer! She was wonderful!
