Not too long ago, I decided that I was done with piercing. I had 23 and I figured that was a good number. I was going to focus on tattoo's, which I love and have only 9 of. Unfortunately, that decision did not last too long. Piercing are just way too addicting.

I was with some friends and two of us decided to get pierced. My friend got his labret, but I could not decide what I wanted. My piercer, Joan told me that they now had the L-bars, so I could finally get my vertical bridge done. I always wanted a vertical bridge, but I can't have one because of my work. I asked her if, instead, I could get a vertical Madison done with the L-bar. I have very, very thin skin and not much of it on my chest, so I thought that a smaller piece of jewelry might stay in better. She said that, yes, I could get it done. Then, I had to pick a color. The way that these L-bars are made is the bottom ball is a titanium colored bead and the top one is a silver stainless bead. There were five colors to choose from. If they offered black, I would have been all over that like a fat kid on a cupcake. However, black was not an option. I decided on a nice dark blue, so it would go with everything I own, and with the rest of my jewelry. I also had to pick wheth er I wanted the colored ball on the top or the bottom. Everybody there ( my friends, the piercer and the counter worker) thought that I should get the colored bead on the top. I guess I was peer pressured into getting the color on top, which is a choice I'm quite happy with. I kind of got a bit nervous at this point, because I always do before a piercing. I paid and then went out for a cigarette.

My friends and I then went into the piercing room, where I would be getting done last. I like to stall a bit before all piercings, so Joan thought that it would give me more time to freak out. I had my freak out, and then I stripped down to my tank top. I was really nervous by this time. I'd already had my chest plate done, and my nape, so this should be nothing. I still had to freak out a bit, and it took about 10 minutes to finally calm me down and then I was ready. Lois, the hand clamp, pinched my skin and Joan lined up the needle. Unfortunately, I had a cough, and needed to pull away to hack out my lungs. I was re-clamped and the needle was set up again. I was determined to get that piercing and get it then. I hate myself for being such a wuss sometimes, but it's a needle going into my flesh. I feel I'm allowed a bit of panic time, but I pushed it way too far this time. Joan told me to take a deep breath, and then I let it go. As soon as that needle hit me, I was dead c alm. It was really quick and with very little pain. I was quite amazed how little it hurt. It did not even bleed too much. I got up, looked at my new piercing and fell in love with it.

As this was Joan's first vertical Madison with a L-bar, we had to get pictures. I have a thing about cameras, but not when they are taking pictures of really nice piercings. I smiled and drank my juice (I was thirsty) and sat as still as possible. I swear, Joan took like 6 pictures. She also wants me to come in again when it's healed to take another picture. That's a lot of pictures. It was a lot of fun, really. This just means that I get to be in Joan's book again. I am already in the book for my nape, but this was something different. To the best of my knowledge, there are not any vertical Madison's in my city, so this is something quasi-unique. I know that there are not any done with L-bars, so I feel that this is a good piercing for me to have.

I would have to say that this is my favorite surface piercing. I am quite happy with it, and I am considering getting one right underneath it. I think that it as a good choice for a impulse piercing. Ultimately, I learned that saying that I'm done with piercing is just a waste of breath. I love being pierced, even though I still stall, I love my piercer and it's a good way to spend my money. Although I don't know what to get next. I will figure that out later.
