Well, this is not too good of a story to tell. I have been interested in getting the nape piercing for a few months now. The first time I saw it, I loved it.

I had never had a surface piercing before. All I had done was my tongue and belly button, which are pretty common, simple piercings. So, I was scared as hell to go through with this piercing, but I wanted it so badly that I didn't care.

I was going to wait until september to get it, but the other night I was in the city with my friend, and being surrounded by piercing shops, how could I resist? I decided to get it right then and there.

I went into the shop, told the guy what I wanted, and before I knew it I was sitting in the chair with the clamp on my neck. He counted to three and said "Thats it your done". I was in shock. I couldn't believe how painless it was. It was definetly not what I expected. I think the clamp hurt more than the piercing itself. It was extremely quick and easy- I loved it!

I was soo happy to finally have my nape piercing done!!! I asked him for a mirror and I looked at it. Right when I saw it I knew something was wrong. It was hanging out of my neck and it looked like nothing I had ever seen. It was an extremely long bar, with the ends bent, like its supposed to be, but the ends were completely exposed. I asked why it was like that and he said for healing purposes. He said that I'd be able to come in and get a smaller, normal looking bar, in 3 weeks. I didn't think too much about it, or ask too many questions, because I was just so happy to have the piercing itself, that I didn't care how the jewelery looked.

When I got home I was talking to my friend online who is a professional piercer and I took pictures of it and sent them to him. He told me to take it out immediately, the guy who pierced me had no idea what he was doing. I was so upset. I asked him why, and he said it was because the way he did it would cause it to migrate out of my neck, leaving me with a nasty scar. He said remove it, and get it done properly in a week. I wasn't sure if I should believe him, after all, I don't even know the guy too well. So I asked another two piercers online, who told me to do the same exact thing. So after a debating whether or not I should remove it, I ended up taking it out. Everyone I tell says to me, "what a waste of money" but it's not even the waste of $40 that I care about, it's the fact that I don't have the piercing in my neck anymore.

So, I guess the piercing itself went great, but the after product was horrible. Now all I have is a memory, two vampire-bite looking dots on the back of my neck, some pictures of the piercing on my computer, and the bar itself. I feel like it became part of me, for the extremely short time that I had it. I just really didn't want to take the chance of having it migrate out of my neck. I have seen pictures of rejected nape piercings, and they do not look too attractive. I want it done the right way.

This was two days ago. Im going in about 2 weeks to get it done again. I had the piercing for 3 hours, and I miss it like I had it forever. Maybe it's for the better, though. I heard that re-piercing can help prevent rejection.

Now I know to make sure I go to a reputable place where the piercer knows what he's doing. I guess I learned a good lesson from this experience. I don't regret it, though. At least now I know it's not painful. And also, last time I wished I had a camera so I could have pictures of me getting it done. Next time I will know to bring one.

Oh well, just wanted to share that experience with you guys. Hopefully I'm not the only one who has had this happen. Now I still ponder the question...what would have happened if I never spoke to that piercer guy online? Well, I don't know what would have happened to the piercing itself, but I know that I would have looked like a damn fool walking around with this big bar hanging out of my neck. It looked pretty bad. I will post pictures on here for you guys to look at.
