I have no idea why I got this piercing. I think this was just one of those random spur of the moment 'I know what, I'm going to go get something pierced' days. I was in Leeds this morning getting my lip rings stretched up and changed to barbells, no big deal just because I felt like a change I guess. I think it just injected that urge to get stabbed for want of a better word.

I wanted something visible and I liked the horizontal chin. However having 14 facial piercings already I'm finding it pretty hard finding employment so I decided facial wouldn't be such a good idea. Not just yet anyway. Then I flicked through the surface/unusual pages and I saw the nape. I liked it but decided that it would be pointless because my friend has had hers done for ages and ages and I've only just really noticed it. Not the approach I'm going for. Then I saw the Madison. Something like love at first sight. I've seen them on a couple of people before but never really considered it for me since I was in full flow with my facial piercings.
I showed my Mama, she approved - this to me is very important!! And I called John up to see if he could fit me in some time around 2:00pm. Sure enough he could and I wandered down not even thinking about it until I got there. John and his wife were stood outside the shop talking to another customer who was to have his double bridge pierced just before me. They went through to the back to be anaesthetised and I signed all the necessary forms. Shortly after he came out all taped up and it was my turn to go through.
I sat up on the couch and he measured me up, drew a line and asked me to check it in the mirror. I had it in my head where abouts I wanted it and that wasn't the place so I asked him to move it down some. He pinched my skin to check for any veins but the area was clear so he proceeded. Same thing again, make dots, draw a line, I checked it. This time it was fine so he continued to apply the anaesthetic. I chose the full anaesthetic which basically consists of some cream, I'm not 100% sure of the name but its similar to EMLA, this is smeared over the whole area, cling film goes on top of this then its all taped down with micro pore securely. This stays on for an hour so in the meantime I hung out at the front of the shop and talked piercings and hair extensions with Nichol, Johns apprentice. It turns out she is in need of some models for facial work so I've volunteered myself for another couple of cheeks and a vertical earl.
An hour passed and I was ready to go back through. I still wasn't nervous... this was slightly unusual for me. I think its because I knew it wouldn't hurt. I'd had my cheek done using that cream and it works a treat. I didn't feel a thing so I figured that this would hurt minus zero.
I sat up on the couch and he took off my micro pore and cling film, cleaned all the cream off and cleaned the whole area. Then he sprayed it for at least 30 seconds with an outer anaesthetic, which was a chilling experience to say the least. All the equipment was laid out ready next to him and Nichol was standing over his shoulder observing as he doesn't get many requests for Madison's. I tied my hair back and he clamped my, repositioning them a few times as the placement id chosen didn't exactly give him much skin to play with. I closed my eyes expecting there to be some sort of pinch, and I'm sat there waiting wondering what the hells going on not daring to open my eyes in case he pierces me at that moment and then... "Right, that's that". He'd already pierced it, now all that remained to do was getting the canula through and the jewellery in. This wasn't so easy because he had to keep lifting the skin up and pushing it through bit by bit, although this was a little uncomfor table it wasn't painful. Then the jewellery went in no problems. It was pierced with a 1.6mm by 13mm PTFE barbell. He cleaned the area yet again and put a piece of tape over it. This can be taken off between one and three hours of having it done.
I paid up and went through the aftercare sheet with him. This is all pretty familiar stuff but routine and it has to be done. Wash with a saline solution twice a day for the next 3 days, then change to savlon wound wash, same thing twice a day only this time I should try gently moving the bar.Healing period is 12 to 14 weeks and I'm due back in for a check up in 3 weeks. All the contact numbers in case of emergency etc came with the aftercare sheets. Right now I'm feeling a little soreness and I guess it's a tight sensation but its nothing serious and I shall see how it goes from here.
