I'll explain my title of 'Not a Porn Star.' The Madison piercing was supposedly named after a porn star of the same name who got that piercing. I decided to get this piercing done because I liked how it looked and it was something different. Plus I hadn't felt the piercing rush in seven years, when I got my lower lip done. I missed it.
At A Glance Author beckstar Contact roach_beck@hotmail.com When Three months ago Artist Jackie Studio Addictive Location London, Ontario I visited a couple different shops in my area and decided on a piercer named Jackie from Addictive. She came highly recommended to me and had about 10 years experience with surface piercings. I went in for a consultation and she told me a couple of things that would affect the chances of my body rejecting the piercing. One thing is that I'm large chested and she said depending on movement that can pull on the piercing. So she got me into different positions to see how much movement there was. It seemed weird, but I trusted that she knew what she was doing.
Then she said my translucent skin is another factor, because it's probably more sensitive. But a bonus was that she would be able to see my veins clearer and avoid them. She talked with me about aftercare and that I would need to come back every so often so she could check-up on how it was healing. I decided to go ahead w/ it and she booked me an appointment. I was so excited!
The next day I came into the shop, a little nervous mind you, and was ready to get the madison piercing. I went back to the room and sat on the dentist-like chair. She had to mark the piercing, which took a while because she wanted to make sure there wouldn't be much movement. It looked like I was getting prepped for surgery. Once she had them in a good spot, she again had me move around to see how much my chest moved the markings. I was happy with the markings and they looked even, so now it's time for the piercing.
Unfortunately there was another guy getting new jewellery for his stretched ears in the same room, so I couldn't be a wimp. I told Jackie I wanted to see the needle, but she said that might not be a good idea until after it's done. I agreed, just in case the sight of it would change my mind. She told me to take a deep breath in and when she said exhale, that's when she inserted the needle. It only took a second or two for it to go through, but it only stung a bit. Then she put in the beautiful jewellery. There was a bit of pressure while she did this, but it wasn't painful. Then I got to look at it and I loved how it looked! It just sat their perfectly in between my two collar bones. At this point I was feeling the endorphin rush and had perma-grin. I had forgotten how it felt since my previous and first piercing which was seven years before. Why did I wait so long?
She cleaned it, showed me how to care for it and what products to buy. Then she had to cover it with some gauze and taped it up. It had to stay like this for 3 days, except when cleaning it of course. I wanted everyone to see it, but didn't want to risk infection, so I listened to Jackie and left it covered for 3 days. I went to work after the piercing, which probably wasn't a good idea. I had started to feel woozy and nauseous as the night progressed, but survived. It was kind of hard to sleep with at first because I didn't want to move my neck a whole lot.
People at work thought I was sick or had a tracheotomy due to the bandage on my throat. I was glad when I could take the bandage off so I could see it and so people wouldn't worry about my health. I got a lot of weird reactions, but I love it! I've had it for about two months now and it is healing well. Now there is no way I can wait another seven years for my next piercing.
So, when getting a surface piercing, make sure you find someone with a lot of experience and recommendations. They should tell you all the risks, chances of rejection, aftercare information and be willing to see you for free check-ups. Jackie provided me with a great experience and anyone from this area interested in getting a surface piercing should check her out.
Some people think my piercing is one of those floating necklaces. If they try and touch it though, hands get smacked. There's no way I'm risking infection so some curious knucklehead can touch it. So hands off!
