I spent the better part of a week getting all excited, looking forward to going with a friend from work to get pierced. She was going to pierce her tongue and I was going to pierce my neck again. I got off work at 6:00, intending to meet her there at 6:00 and go to the studio after that...well, I sat there, waiting...studying a bit...waiting some more...gave up on trying to study...I finally gave up at about quarter to seven and called my sister up to go with me. If my friend wasn't going to show, I was still going to go get pierced. Hmph.
At A Glance Author Amanda Contact faeneleafrunner@cs.com When It just happened Artist Jinx Studio Visual Impact Location Elmira Heights My sister met me at work, and we took off for Visual Impact at their new and much improved studio. I was quite impressed. I talked to the guy at the counter, who gave me the proper forms and took my ID and got incredibly excited that not only did I have my neck already pierced, but that I could take it in and out easily. Forgive me, though, because he never told me his name...so I stood filling out papers and talking to Nick Boggs, who was intent on making sure that I wanted to get this done, and have it done by them rather than the person that did my first piercing. I was pretty impressed by that, because he understands that piercings, tattoos and other mods are a sort of 'art' and for one artist to complete another artist's work is a bit offensive. Understand, however, I just rathered for them to do it, because I was more comfortable there. My first piercing wasn't a bad piercing, I just felt easier at Visual. All good.
Jinx and my sister and Desk Guy and I went to the back room, all comfy and sterile and blue. I sat myself on the table while Jinx did his cleaning thing and his preparing thing. The pair of them, Desk Guy and Jinx, were the funniest thing I'd heard all week, going off back and forth at each other. Jinx went through and got out the jewelry, clamps, stuff... had me take out my other barbell because it was really throwing him off. Finally, though, he was ready and got out the...thing... to mark the cross to line up the two piercings. Come to find out, the original was just *that* much off that you couldn't *really* notice it, unless you really looked, but when the second one was there, it made it that much more obvious. *sighs* Well, Jinx got it all straight and got so excited about his perfectly straight cross...so he took a picture of it. ;) All good.
You know, surprisingly enough, I wasn't nervous. I don't get nervous about piercings anymore. Just all nice and relaxed and comfy. I laid face down on the table, and felt the clamps grab my skin. Everyone got all quiet. Then, the softest, most relaxing *even sensual* voice I've ever heard, broke the silence.
'Breathe in....and out....and in....and out again....and in....and....' I squeezed my sister's hand, and tensed up, holding my breath. I could feel the needle slipping through the bit of skin, more this time because it was a longer piercing than the one above it. 'One last push...' and it was through. I let go of my sister's hand and relaxed while he put me back together, cleaning up my blood and pulling the barbell through. It stung a bit, but when he quit touching it, it didn't hurt anymore. Just felt a bit...sore. Jinx got all excited and took another picture of it. I got up after he was done, looked in the mirror, and declared it beautiful.
I got all the aftercare info, and paid for my beauty. Jinx gave me the really rocking idea to do a whole project out of my neck, and I will, and I will go back to him to let him do it. You know, here, I must put in a little interjection. If you went to a restaraunt and had a wonderful little waitress that served you in a timely manner, good food, was all sweet to you and made you as comfortable as possible, you would give her a tip...same thing goes for our friendly neighborhood piercers. It's just good manners, showing a bit of personal appreciation. Just an observation...
Well, that was yesterday. I slept kind of hard, because it was a little raw yet, and was sore the morning after. Ah, but it was so worth it, feeling fine by the afternoon. I've been to three different studios in my area, and I must admit, Visual is **the** most comfortable and capable place of the three. I completely intend to go back more than once, to let Jinx finish my neck and let Nick at the rest of me. ;) Much love and respect to my gentlemen, Nick, Jinx and the Desk Guy. *I'm sorry Desk Guy, no offense meant*
