Well, first off, this all began with me wanting an unusual piercing.

I was thinking about getting a tongue piercing, but that was just too much for me. I figured something temporary or a piercing in a place not really seen or unknown or even STRANGE would be even more awesome. (She is going to crap herself when she finds out about my "holey hand"...) I've always wanted more piercings, but being the broke teenager that I am, I can never go out and get any done. :(
It all began yesterday at about 1am: I was sitting at home on the computer, staring at the BMEzine, and I saw an unusual handweb piercing, which I think is profoundly awesome, so I stared at all the pictures and took a few mental notes as to how one would look like... I decided that this was the piercing I wanted done - I thought to myself, "The next time I get money together, I'm going to get this done."
But, being the experimental and extremely IMPATIENT teenager that I am, I decided on a whim to pierce my hand.
I fished around my room and found a needle in my jewelry box; I disinfected the needle and my hand, pricked around, and wondered if I could pierce my handweb... Note: The only piercings I have are the two in my ears... That's two TOTAL... And those were done by a professional... Back to the story: Well, it worked, but I was shocked at how easy it was... I was actually quite happy with the simplicity of the piercing, but I couldn't find any earring or such to put in the hole I just made in my hand... So, I immediately removed the needle, disinfected my hand and the needle again, and went to sleep. No pain!
So, onto tonight...
I decided that this time, I was going to make an actual attempt to pierce it - AGAIN. Yes, I know - But the hole I made last night was so small, that I didn't even feel pain or soreness this morning; I did it with a regular sewing needle yesterday. So, anyway, I found a large safety pin (I DO NOT recommend doing this AT ALL - I did this out of pure stupidity, and even though I am in love with my new piercing, I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT)... Oh, yea, anyway, I found a large safety pin, and a hoop that I could insert in the hole after piercing.
I disinfected the hoop, the safety pin, and my hand with hydrogen peroxide... (Yes, I know this isn't exactly safe, but I'm an anxious teenager, what can I say?)
I sat on my bed, with a pair of tweezers (what for, I don't know), the safety pin, which to me seems something around the size of a 12g barbell, warm water, hydrogen peroxide, band-aids, and a napkin.
Basically, I stabbed my hand. And I'm not going to lie; I'm telling you, it HURT... Especially when trying to break the skin on the other side of the hand... But, I kept with it. I guess my medium-high tolerance for pain let me down with this one. I leaned back on my bed and patiently pushed the needle through... Slowly, the tip of the needle emerged from the other side of my hand, thank goodness, and after about 5 minutes of patient struggle, I slowly yet anxiously slid the whole needle through, making sure that I got it in. Then, I traded the needle with the tiny hoop after about 5 minutes of letting the safety pin sit, because I wanted to make sure that the hole was still there when I pulled out the safety pin - That and I'm so damn impatient. I cleansed everything again thoroughly - The shocking thing to me is that I thought blood was supposed to be involved, but I didn't bleed at all, and I am REALLY happy for that! A tiiiny bit of ooze came out of one of the hole s, but that was only during disinfection... Now I'm now sitting here, typing to you lovely people with a band-aid on my hand, simply because when I go to sleep, I don't want to wake up with part of my hand missing. :)
Again, I DO NOT recommend piercing ANYTHING this way. I did this because I am a stupid, stupid teenager with no money and starving for some sort of entertainment. Be safe: Get a professional to do it. They actually know what they are doing.
After this piercing migrates, I'll definitely go to a professional after it heals and get it redone. I really like it; it fits my personality! As of now, my hand is a bit sore, but not as bad as I thought it would be. :) No swelling, either!
All I am worried about now is when it starts to migrate. :P
