I have always had a deep interest in piercing.

That's what brought me here to bme. I go on bme so often and learn more and more every day about the piercing world. One day while I was looking at pictures I saw a picture of a female with the base of her neck pierced. Originally I was amazed that it looked like a necklace. It looked absolutely beautiful. It complimented her neck, her shoulders and collarbone well.

I started to research for more pictures of this piercing and usually on everybody they looked absolutely beautiful.

A few months past and I had the constant thought of it in the back of my head. I told a lot of people about it and how I really wanted it. I wanted to get it pierced in a shop at which I felt really comfortable in.

At the time I was up at school near Rochester, NY. I had a friend Noelle that went to this place 'Primitive Impressions' on a regular basis for her piercing wants and needs. She loved it there and always spoke positively about the workers there. So, of course I went there with her one time so she could get some new jewelry. I too thought good things about the workers there. Jay was very knowledgeable and seemed like he had a real love for body modification.

On the way home, in the car all I could keep seeing was this piercing on me. And this intense feeling grew inside of me.

Once I got back to the dorm, I went on bme and went through the experiences. I looked through all of the Madison experiences. I found that a lot of people had rejection problems. I also found that a lot of people had problems finding a place that would do it. And one last thing that I noticed was the recurring thought of 'beauty'.

The rejection rate didn't scare me. I think that some people just don't care of them properly, and a lot of peoples skin just isn't fit for piercing. And if you ask me, rejection seems normal; just think about what you are doing to your skin. The thought of the piercing place not being able to do it didn't faze me either. Jay seemed that even if he hadn't done a Madison before, he had enough knowledge to do it.

I decided to get my Madison done in a month. I prepared for it, a lot, spiritually. I meditated heavily for a month contrary to my irregular meditation schedule.

While Noelle and I were driving to the shop, I was so nervous and excited. It was really crazy. I knew everything about this piercing. I knew exactly where I wanted it. I knew exactly what jewelry I wanted. I knew all of the rejection problems. I pretty much knew how to take care of it. I knew what to expect.

Noelle and I walked into the shop and I know I had the biggest grin on my face.

Jay asked how he could help us and I told him my plans. I must have been pinching my skin where I wanted it done and said "I want a madison. He looked at me and asked what type of jewelry I was interested in and I said 'fourteen gauge curved barbell. He responded that that is what he thought would be best. He then explained the rejection rate. There was a very high rejection rate. That it will take a long time for my piercing to fully heal and it's a lot of work to keep it healthy. I said I was ready for it.

And I was. I knew exactly what I was getting myself into.We went into the piercing room, which was VERY clean. Jay put on gloves and took out all of the piercing equipment. Everything was clean and wrapped and he explained every instrument that he was using. He also went into detail about the procedure. Then he marked on me and asked if it was where I wanted and I responded 'Yes'. And then I sat down in the chair.

It went so quickly and it didn't hurt at all.

Jay gave me some water, told me to sit down, and asked me if I was all right. And I was. The piercing felt incredible and it looked so nice. I was so happy.

After the piercing was of course red, and Jay said to expect that and he also told me to expect it to swell up a little.I was told to wash it twice a day with antibacterial soap. So, basically with the location of the Madison, I needed to take two showers a day. And I did that; I took two showers a day for about five months.

I also clean off the crusties off of it with q-tips sometimes and sometimes I did put lotion if it got a little dry.

Now, I'm in my seventh month of having the Madison.

It hasn't had any signs of rejection and it is still one of my favorite piercings. In fact if had to takeout all of my piercings and leave one it would be my Madison.
