Shortly after getting my VCH, which was a cake walk, I decided that piercing #17 was going to be a triangle. I spent a year trying to learn everything I could about the piercing. If you get only one thing out of this post, please understand the importance of finding someone qualified and experienced in doing triangle piercings.

I wont go into it but anyone who is considering doing this piercing on you should first check to make sure your anatomy is fit to be pierced in such a manner. After finding this out I decided that I wouldn't allow anyone to pierce me that didn't bring up this point. I didn't want someone just sticking me because I asked them to, no matter what sort of danger it would be to my body.
2 weeks after leaving my girlfriend, I decided the time had come to take the plunge. I live in Houston so my search for my piercer included Houston, Dallas and Austin. I had heard great things about Bear, so I started my search with finding him. He had been piercing for years at Forbidden Fruit in Austin. After emailing FF, I learned that they are no longer piercing there and Bear had since retired from piercing. They recommended Pineapple who previously had a shop at Golden Apple Studios, and gave me the number to that shop. I did a search on Google and found Pineapple's myspace page.
He has opened his own shop in Austin, Shaman Body Piercing and Modifications. I sent him a message and inquired about the triangle. Basically I just said that I wanted the piercing, how much would it cost and when could I get it. He was so nice, and so willing to meet with me. I told him that I would be driving in from Houston and that I would keep in close contact with him since my schedule was pretty tight as to when I could meet with him. He sent me his schedule and told me that he would love to say that he could do it at that time, but that he couldn't promise anything. He also felt that he needed to let me know that he would have to first check me to make sure my anatomy could carry such a piercing (which made me feel very comfortable with him). I made the trip to Austin and met with Pineapple. He checked me, and I was all good to get the piercing.
His shop is impeccable and he was so professional, but still very friendly and welcoming. He sterilized all of the equipment right in front of me. He started out by verbally walking me through the process, explaining exactly each and every step in the process. I asked millions of questions and he was more than happy to answer all and every one of them.
He then had me lay down with my palms facing upwards toward the ceiling and coached me through some relaxation-type of breathing. I had 2 friends in there with me to hold my hands and he told them that was fine but I really needed to have my hands flat on the table with my palms facing upwards to ensure maximum relaxation, but told them they could put their hand on my shoulder, which they did.
He explained to me that he apprenticed under Bear, and that he is one of only a couple of people in Austin qualified to safely do a triangle. All of this info made me feel that much more comfortable with him.
He did a fantastic job, I didn't even flinch! He pierced me with a 10 gauge needle, without a clamp, and put a straight barbell in. He had personally done less than 10, as the triangle is a very uncommon piercing.
He told me afterward that I could call him anytime, no matter what, if I had questions about my triangle. He told me that I should leave it alone, basically not to put anything on it that I wouldn't want to drink a glass-full of. I had never been told not to clean a piercing, but he told me that my body would naturally heal itself and it didn't need to be tampered with in any way. So, that's exactly what I did and it's healed perfectly.
I called him a month after and told him that it was itching a bit and he told me that was completely normal, that it just meant it was healing. I know this is the case with piercings but am also not accustomed to itching in that region so I wanted to double check.
It took about a month to heal, which was good because after the break up I wanted to stay away from sex all together for a minute. But after a month had passed it struck back with a vengeance and felt really, REALLY great.
The next trip I make to Austin, I'm going to go back and see him so he can check it out and photograph it for his portfolio. I had a great piercing experience and felt obliged to pass it on to anyone looking at getting this piercing and wanted to recommend Pineapple at Shaman Body Piercing and Modifications in Austin to do it.
