I've toyed with genital piercings before but I seem to get bored easily if I don't have a project on the go. I removed my previous piercings and decided to start with a blank canvas, genitally speaking!
At A Glance Author Defiance Contact Defiance@bme.anon When It just happened Artist Sam Studio The Works Location Whittington moor, Chesterfield, UK I started out with an idea of what I wanted, 6 large gauge outer labia piercings to start with and then see how it went, hopefully a triangle and some inner labia work will follow soon. when I went into certain studios I was met with blank looks all round when I asked about a multiple large gauge genital piece. Then I walked into The Works, this studio had come very highly recommended and I was already planning on getting a tattoo done there. I'm a pretty confident person when it comes to explaining exactly what I want from a new modification and Sam made me feel completely at ease, explaining that she was going to pierce and a standard 1.6ml (14g) and then, once I'd healed stretch up. I was very happy to do this as it means the project is on going, I like to feel that I always have a work in progress. I asked her about having 6 in one sitting, I wasn't sure that it would be practical as I work in a job that involved a lot of lifting and moving, I didn't want any excess trauma to my piercings or impede healing in any way. So, we decided to do only two at a time. I agreed and arranged to come down the following morning before the shop was officially open so that I could have some privacy. Sadly Sam was ill the next day so I was unable to get pierced but Sam's all better now (hurray) so today was the day.
At around 5.30 I arrived at the shop, the tattooist was cleaning up and getting ready to leave, after a cup of coffee, a chat about the new tattoo that I'm having drawn up and chance to dry off (it was pouring with rain outside)it was time to kick the boys out and get started.
Sam made me feel completely at ease, we had a really good laugh, even when I was sprawled out on the table. I'm not very confident about my body and am not at ease being, bottom half, naked but Sam's seen it all before and just got on with cleaning the area, marking up and making sure everything was symetrical. She showed me the clamps, needles and jewelery all sealed up in the autoclave packets. I'm no stranger to piercing but she still ran though all the details of the procedure with me, just to make sure I was happy.
The piercing itself was surprisingly painless, one deep breath, a little pinch and it was done, there was a sensation of pressure as Same slid the jewelery through but nothing unbearable, which is good as I plan on having 4 more in the same area. After she pierced the left side she cleaned up the little bit of blood and made sure that I was okay. Then it was time for Sam to pierce the other side, she double checked the placement, I swear she'd done this about 7 or 8 times but, like me, she's a perfectionist! She moved around to the other side of the couch, checked again and proceeded to clamp and pierce as before, the right side nipped a little more than the left, I'm not sure why but the right side of my body seems to be more sensetive to everything, the human body is a wierd and wonderful collection of organs! The tiny amount of discomfort was overwhelmed by the rush of adreneline. I felt so happy, Sam left me to dress while she went into the back to let me calm down and check the placement with a small mirror, they were perfectly symetrical and right in the centre of each of my outer labia. I dressed, paid and tipped and then , grinning like a loon, Sam, her other half and I decided to go to the pub, no alcohol for me though but a well earned J2O and a cigarette! Sam knew that I'd already had genital piercings and that I knew what I was doing when it came to aftercare but I know that if I have any problems I can call into the shop or phone up and ask her advice. In about 4 weeks I plan to return to The Works to get another 2 nearer my pubic bone and to begin stretching the initial piercings. I can't wait. I'm now playing the waiting game to see what my boyfriend thinks to my new shiny additions.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Works to anyone wanting a genital piercing, Sam made me feel completely at ease, the studio is clean, the artists are friendly and you don't get any attitude, that's very important to me.
