Unfortunately, the more I thought about it and investigated, I discovered that almost all genital piercings are not meant for me. The first piercing I wanted was a triangle. An examination by a piercer ruled that out. I knew that my clitoris was too covered by my hood to be pierceable, and for a long time I had no idea where my inner labia even were; I just don't have any. I loved the look of fourchettes, but I had heard that very few women have the anatomy for them and they're really prone to rejection/problems. This got me seriously thinking about my outer labia.
I had never been too crazy about outer labia piercings before. Most of the piercings I had seen had been done with rings, and I really didn't like the idea of all that metal hanging off of my crotch. I finally found some pictures of outer labia that had been pierced with curved barbells, and I was hooked. At first I decided that four piercings would be enough, but the more I considered it, the more I liked the idea of six. There was only one thing I was still uneasy about: I don't shave my pubic hair. I do trim it pretty short, but it's an aesthetic issue for me - I honestly don't like the way shaved pubic hair looks. I didn't really expect my piercer to complain or anything, but I was a little worried about how the piercings would look since most of the pictures I had seen had been on girls who shaved. I decided that I would get the first two and if they looked weird I could always take them out.
The thing is, as soon as I decided that these were the piercings I wanted, the school term ended. This meant that I was out of money and had to leave New Orleans to stay with my parents in Tulsa, OK for a couple of months. Oh well, I thought. I can still get it done. I had heard good things about Body Piercing by Nicole, so I stopped in to ask some questions my second day back. The girl I talked to was very helpful, and I noticed that the shop was clean and professional. She told me that the guy who owned Body Piercing by Nicole, Jonathan, had another shop called Body Modifications and that he was there now and could help me.
I hadn't really planned to go to Body Modifications that day, but I was hanging out with my sister and she said she knew where it was and wouldn't mind going in. Body Modifications seemed to be more of a work in progress than Body Piercing by Nicole, but the interior was very clean and everything looked in order. I told the counter guy that I was interested in a six piercing labial corset, and he summoned Jonathan, who mentioned that the girl from the other shop had called about me. Jonathan said that he only pierced outer labia with curved barbells, which impressed me since I've heard they heal way better than rings, and it was what I wanted anyway. I told him I wanted 12g and he said that would be fine. The jewellry he used was very high quality - internally threaded, stainless steel. Initially the price he quoted was out of my range, but he said that since I was getting six piercings, he would do them for $100 a pair. Hmmm. This is when I realized I was carrying exactly $100 from selling my textbooks. I told him that I could do the first two today, but didn't have enough to tip (I'm definately tipping extra next session). He said that was fine and took me back to the piercing room.
The piercing room was nice; the equipment looked new and everything was very clean. He had a doctor-style table with stirrups, which I really appreciated. There was some sort of (sterile?) wipe and a paper blanket (like at the gynocologist's office) on a tray, and Jonathan told me to remove my clothes from the waist down and clean myself with the wipe while he left the room. I did so, and situated myself on the table with the paper blanket over my legs. When Jonathan came back, he prepped the area and marked me with gentian violet. He handed me a mirror, and we decided to mark the entire corset so we could get an idea of the piercings in relation to where the others would be. When we were happy with the marks, Jonathan told me that he didn't usually use clamps, but asked if I would prefer them. I've never had a bad experience with clamps and do prefer them, so Jonathan placed the clamps and secured them with a rubber band. He lined up the needle, I took a deep breath, and he pierced as I let it out. The piercing wasn't horrendously slow, but I did have time to fully exhale and say "shit!" before the needle was through. I appreciate that Jonathan hit his marks well and gave me an accurate piercing, but it was the slowest piercing I've ever had. The endorphins at this point were ridiculous, and it was time to do the other side. I was worried that it would be more painful, but I didn't notice more pain with my second nipple piercing, and I didn't notice more pain this time. Actually it was identical: needle lined up, breath in, exhale, "shit!" I used the mirror to admire his work (very pleased!), and Jonathan gave me a piece of guaze to protect my panties and left while I dressed. There was actually little to no bleeding, then or at any point in the healing. I appologized again to Jonathan for not being able to tip and walked out surprisingly pain-free, holding my Provon soap and generous bag of sea salt.
It's been a few weeks since my first two labia piercings. They were amazingly swollen the first few days. The barbells were long enough to accomodate, but I've never had any piercing swell like that! I did sea salt soaks at least once a day and cleaned them in the shower with Provon. I've had no problems with healing, and now they're pretty happy piercings. I'm planning to get the next set in two weeks or so. I'm very happy with my piercings! Jonathan at Body Modifications is great- I definately recommend him.
