About three months ago, I found myself back in Full Color Coverage, in Annapolis, MD, for the fourth time since March for piercings. I had already gotten my tongue, nose, and nipples pierced. This time I had gone in wanting to get a vertical hood; however, my piercer, Spanky, advised against that because I didn't have enough area there to pierce, and it would most likely migrate. Spanky's the greatest – he'll be completely honest and upfront about the piercings, and won't do a piercing if he doesn't think it will work out well. I was really disappointed because I had been so set on the hood piercing, but then he suggested labia piercings. I had seen these before on BME and admired them, so I decided to get two upper, outer labia piercings that night. I found this to be pretty amusing, because when I first got into piercings, I swore I would never get my nipples pierced, or any genital piercings, and there I was, already had one and was about to get the other!

Spanky, before doing anything, went over the after care with me and explained how he was going to do the piercing. So, I was sitting up on the table in a position reminiscent of a gynecologist appointment (shudder!) and he prepared his equipment (I love Full Color Coverage especially for that – the place smells like a hospital and the artists are meticulous about being clean. It's really comforting to watch Spanky get new gloves a bunch of times before actually doing the piercing, as well as pulling out the sealed packages of all new equipment and whatnot...that kind of thing was definitely a huge concern for me when I first became interested in body mods). I wasn't that nervous, surprisingly. Spanky had already done four piercings on me previous to these, and they were all very fast, well-done piercings that healed fast with no problems. He's really great at what he does! So I let him put the forceps on the first side and held my breath as he pushed the needle through. My first instinct was to pull my legs up and closed, until he reminded me of the needle that was still there. He put the jewelry in, which definitely felt weird in that area...it hurt a little bit when the needle was being pulled through, but it was not bad or unbearable at all. I was a little dizzy from the rush of getting a piercing. That is always the coolest, weirdest feeling in the world. It's one of the best parts of getting a piercing, I think. He asked me if I wanted to wait a few minutes before he pierced the left side, but I told him not to wait! Now, I have always been told that when getting two piercings done at the same time, the second one always hurts a lot, no matter how easy the first one was. When I got my nipples pierced, both were very easy and nearly painless, so I thought that I was lucky and it would always be like that. Not so! I relaxed, thinking the second labia piercing would be fine, but it hurt so badly I actually screamed! That's never happened to me while getting pierced! That will never stop me from g etting more piercings, though. This time I was dizzier, so I lay back for a few minutes. Spanky was really cool about it, being patient, putting a fan on me, getting me a cool wet paper towel, and making sure I was okay. After a bit, he put the jewelry in and explained the after care again. Soon, I was on my way, walking funny as I made my way out of the studio. The piercings were tender for a few days, which is to be expected, and it definitely felt better to wear skirts and loose pants, but there was no actual pain.

I cleaned my new beauties with Provon, which I've used for all of my piercings, even though I can't stand the smell of it, and sea salt water. I dissolved the sea salt into warm water, like I did for my other piercings. I soaked a paper towel in it and sat on the (closed) toilet holding the towel against the rings, and then pouring some of the salt water between my legs into the toilet, moving the rings around. I did this for a while and had no problems at all.

I definitely recommend labia piercings to any woman who is considering them. My second one hurt, but the pain was definitely bearable – I'd do it again, and I will. I'm planning on getting two more labia piercings, about two inches below the ones I already have, after I get my Christina.
