Ok, I'll start with the background info. I already have several genital piercings, and I have always loved the look of the christina piercing. I first saw it here on BME, and knew right away that I would have one.

Charlii, my piercer took a look and said that I have the perfect anatomy for it, and I got it done then and there. Unfortunately though, it was not to last. It started to heal fine for the first few weeks, but I lead quite an active life, and after about a month it started to reject. I noticed a little redness around the top of the piercing, and it was a little sore, so I started to take more care of it, but to no avail. Within a couple of days it was only held in place by a tiny bit of skin, so I took it out. I was gutted, but decided that I would get it redone at some point.
Fast forward about 6 weeks, and I was in getting me HCH pierced, and I asked Charlii to take a look at where my Christina used to be, and see whether it could be repierced. She said that given another few weeks and it definately could. I heal very quickly, so the piercing was fully healed, the scar tissue just needed a little more time to settle. She also said that it would be more likely to stay in place second time round, as the scar tissue might hold it in place better (the same thing had happened to hers).
Anyway, time passed, but I never got it redone. I was still with my boyfriend at the time and although we both loved the way the piercing looked, we were quite rough in the bedroom, which had contributed to the first one rejecting. Then we split up, and I still didn't get it redone, I don't really know why. Thing just kept getting in the way, like seeing guys and not having any money.I should say here that I've self pierced on several occasions, and that I do it because I know what I am doing, and I have access to proper, sterile equipment. I do NOT recommend that anyone else try to self pierce unless they are absolutely sure that they can do so properly.
Piercing for me is a very theraputic thing, I focus myself completely on the process, and it takes me completely away from whatever else is going on in my life at the time. Piercings and tattoos have always been helpful to me when I'm dealing with other issues. I find the whole process of getting the work done (either professionally or self done piercing) very calming. Self piercing for me is a far more intense feeling than getting something done, it is very personal. I don't self pierce if there is anyone else around. I don't like to have any music or anything, I just focus completely on my body and the feeling of the needle through my flesh.
When I self pierce, I like to do it slowly, so can feel the needle go the whole way through each layer of skin.I have a lot going on in my life at the moment, I'm in the process of changing my job to something completely different from what I am currently doing, and there are some complicated guy related issues, so I wanted something new. Anyway, last week I was in the shower, and it suddenly popped into my head. I'd got the week off work, so it would have time to settle without me being too active, and I'm not seeing anyone at the moment, so sex won't be an issue. Perfect!
So I finished in the shower, and sat myself on the edge of my bed, piercing stuff ready. I wiped the area with an alcohol wipe (these sting like a bitch in such a sensitive area!) and marked the place I wanted to pierce (it was in the exact same place as before, Charlii as a perfectionist, so she did it perfect the first time). I lined my clamps up over the markings and got my needle out, placing the tip on the top marking. I lay back on my bed, and applied gentle pressure to the needle. A minute later and it was through. I sat up to cut the catheter, and fed the bar through (a plain curved barbell with black balls, to match the rest of my genital piercings). It was done!
Pain wise, the Christina is slightly worse than the outer labia, due to passing through more flesh, but it's nothing major. If you are considering getting it done, go for it. Although it gives no extra stimulation, it is gorgeous to look at!
