So, Zac came with me to Minot. We went a little early so we could have some lunch and walk around Target a little bit (there is only walmart in Williston, so Minot is the closest target) and I tried to calm my nerves a little.

About 1:45 I showed up at my piercer's studio and I sat for about 10 more minutes...again, NERVOUS as hell. My hands were sweating and I kept thinking, "Oh shit, maybe I should get something else pierced instead!" because I was terrified that it would be the most painful thing ever.

After I sat down in her ugly green chair she told me about her piercing experience (8 years professional, but she had been piercing unprofessional since she had been 15 years old, piercing school, etc.) and had some small talk about my kids and her kids, etc. to make me feel more comfortable. Then we got down to business. She discussed jewlery options and what she thought would be best for the first 3 months, and then she showed me a picture in her book to make sure we were on the same page, etc.

She then had me undress from the waste down and then came back in to "mark" me with her surgical pen. Before she marked me she had me hold a mirror down there and discussed ALL the piercing options just to make sure I was getting it where I wanted it. She was very knowledgable about the female anatomy and discussed which piercing does what (sexually) and stuff like that. I really thought "oh there is no turning back now!" and I had Zac double check the marks because at this point I just wanted to close my eyes and get it over with. Zac said it was exactly where I wanted it (he's been researching just as much as I have because my husband is a safety freak)--

She basically just told me we were going to get started, I turned my head to the right, squeezed Zac's hand and waited anxiously for the worst pain I was sure I'd ever feel in my entire life.

She used a clamp to secure the area which didn't hurt at all. and told me that we were going to get started. She didn't explain the step by step process as she was piercing and I think that was a good thing, otherwise I'd be anticipating the pain much longer and be a lot more tense which would make it hurt worse.

Before my brain could process the sentence "OH MY GOD THAT HURTS" the pain was over. I'm talking less than 2 seconds of actual pain...in fact, I'm thinking it was less than ONE second of actual pain. She put in the jewlery which didn't hurt at all either.

I did bleed a little but in actuality not much at all. After the piercing was done she had me hold a mirror to look at it and made sure I was 100% satisfied (I was)- She then went over the cleaning procedures. She suggested that in the shower I wash with antibacterial soap and then use an iodine or betadine rinse for the first few weeks. It was very thorough so I knew exactly how to take care of it when I got home.

The jewlery is just a 14g C-bar (curved) and is made of stainless steel (the kind they use for joint replacements, etc.)-- with stainless steel balls. She explained that the smaller the piercing, the more likely it is to be rejected. She also said that after 3 months it would be fine to replace the balls with something light like an acrylic ball and then after 6 months she said I could pretty much put in whatever I wanted. She said that the heavier balls are not as god for healing purposes and that I really SHOULD wait to replace them. I will take her word for it! I just love the piercing and I will be so disapointed if it rejects.

Before I got pierced I did ask her about rejection because I've read that it is very possible with the Christina. She told me that after 8 years of piercing, she hasn't seen one of hers reject, especially if they used the stainless steel and waited to change the decorative balls. She was wonderful, and promised that if the piercing rejects to let her know and she will redo it for free after it is done healing.

I'm on day 2, no pain, a little brusing on my skin where the curved bar runs, but not really much tenderness or anything else. On occasion I will move wrong or something and I can feel that the piercing is there but it really is just not painful at all. I hope everything continues to heal well and I'm SO shocked at how little it hurts.

It's really pretty...so hurray! I keep looking at myself every time I go to the bathroom!

I'd really suggest that if you are in ND you travel to Minot and have Jody do your piercing. When I walked into the studio it looked so nice and trendy and was painted so nice I thought maybe I was in the wrong place. A lady asked me if I was there for a piercing and I said yes so she had me take a seat and wait for Jody. The shop is also a hair-salon and Jody's stations for piercing are in the back part of the building. She co-owns the business with her sister-in-law so it really is a family business!
