Well, my fascination with piercing started when I was about 15 years old, when the bellybutton craze started in my town. However, while all of my friends were looking at bellybuttons and cartilage piercings, I was on BME captivated by vertical hood piercings and Christina piercings. I thought they were both incredibly beautiful and erotic in their own ways. Now, fast forward about two years and I worked up the courage to get my vertical hood. I was not happy with just that piercing so once again I took to the internet browsing Christina piercing pictures/experiences on BME and similar sites. I was a little worried about the fact that people seem to think the Christina is a nearly impossible piercing to heal, and that overall it is just a big pain in the ass to deal with.

Well, I looked around and of course focused my attention on James Raimier who pierces inside Old Towne Tattoo in Saginaw. This man is notoriously known as the best of the best in the tri-cities area if not in the whole state on Michigan. People always have great things to say about his work, and so I decided to send an email his was inquiring about his experience with the Christina piercing. He promptly responding back to me answering all of my questions thoroughly and after a few replies I decided I was going to do it, and he was going to be the man for the job. I had to wait until payday and let me tell you the anticipation almost killed me. When the day finally arrived I woke up, showered, shaved the area and headed out on the 40 minute drive to the shop. When my husband and I arrived James was doing a Monroe piercing on another client, and he told us to sit tight and he would be right out.
After a few moments, James returned and came out into the front of the shop to talk to me a little bit about the Christina piercing in general. He asked me what I already knew about it, and also talked about a two different jewelry options – tygon or a surface bar. I decided on tygon and he explained my aftercare instructions which basically amounted to using sterile saline and LEAVING THE PIERCING ALONE as much as humanly possible. After all the formalities were over (I.D. copying, consent form), we walked back into the piercing room, which by the way is IMMACULATELY clean. James explained what he was going to do, and then it was time to get down to business. He did have an apprentice in the room with him, which I was more than cool with. Everyone's gotta learn sometime..right! Well, James turned around while I took my pants off and then he proceeded to mark the spot while I was standing. He asked me to lie down and discovered the piercing was no in the ideal location anymore, so he adjusted the marks just a tad, and I stood up again to give the final say. Everything looked great! He then prepped my skin for the piercing, then I layed down and it was almost time to get poked. James had his apprentice hold the skin taut for him as he did the piercing freehand. I took a few deep breaths in, and there were a few sharp pinches, but all in all it was not as bad as I thought. Being naked from the waist-down was worse than the needle poke. I was pierced with a 12 gauge needle, and the tygon was thread through and the balls screwed on, and I got to see my piercing for the first time. Let me just say it was absolutely beautiful. I cannot wait until I get a small jeweled ball because I am going to screw that on the top, and it will be even more beautiful. Other than that, it is everything I imagined it would be and more, all thanks to James and his wonderful apprentice who volunteered her services. It was actually the first Christina piercing she had gotten to watch, so she was enthused as well.
I instantly fell in love and I vowed to myself to take care of the Piercing to the best of my ability so I don't lose it. All in all, James is an absolutely incredible artist who takes great concern for his clients as far as answering questions, helping out any way he can, but he also ensures safety by only doing modifications in an absolutely sterile room. I have a few more genital piercing in mind, and one can only imagine I will definitely be going back to James to have the work completed. I would recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone interested in body piercing.
