About 3 Months ago, I was sitting around a tattoo/piercing shop. I was dating the body piercer at the time, I met him when he had done a previous piercing of mine. It was getting towards the end of the night and no customers had come in for any piercings or tattoo's, and of course out of pure boredom everyone started thinking of things to do. Suddenly the body piercer (my ex-roommate & the same guy I was dating at the time) "said lets Pierce somebody." being that the owner had almost nothing good left to pierce, and everyone else was chicken-shit it automatically qualified me as the guinea pig. (mind you I have been in this position before as being a practice skin for a my friend who was beginning his tattoo apprenticeship). The body piercer actually needed this for his portfolio, and since I was dating him it was totally free. I only trusted him because he did a killer job on all my other piercings. After about a half hour of haggling and the "I dare you" crap I finally gave in.

For most piercings I was nervous, however for this one I remained surprisingly calm. I had to take my skirt off and my thong obviously so he could get to the site of the piercing. After he sterilized my skin, he marked where he was going to pierce, but I wasn't happy with it. I didn't think that a ball resting on the hood (or the beginning of the crack) looked very attractive. I asked him to move the marks up slightly not too much, but enough to change the look of it. It was basically a surface piercing over the pelvic bone, it looked sort of like a belly button piercing.

I told him that after he did it that I would let him take a few pictures and then take it out. He said it was alright as long as he got the pictures. I was really calm when he brought the needle to the skin. However If I had known the amount of pain I would have gone through previous to piercing I would have been a lot more nervous. I have a high pain tolerance, but this was by far one of the most painful piercings I have ever gotten. As he was piercing I shuttered so hard I grabbed the very same arm he was still using to push through the skin. I was lucky and it didn't not affect the alignment though. I got a good adrenaline rush from it. The pain wasn't a big issue though, It was intense but it only lasted for about 7-10 seconds. I didn't bleed a lot but there was definitely a little bit around the jewelry. I ended up liking it, and I kept it.

There is supposed to be about a 90 percent rejection rate on the piercing. (18 months). He said that if It hadn't gotten rejected with in the first few months, then it probably would before the first 18 months, and then after about 18 months it normally grows out or the body will push it (reject it) out.

It was pretty easy to take care of but the healing process is quite long. You have to clean the jewelry from dead white blood cells, plasma, and crusted blood everyday. you also have to clean the piercing with distilled water and make sure when you shower to not get it wet (which is difficult because you need a waterproof bandage) because of the minerals and other things that tap water contains. You also want to wash your hands before and after you touch it, especially when it's healing, and keep clean gauze over it for the first week. The healing process is a full time job if you intend on keeping it. Its not too hard though, if you have good hygiene. For the first month of the healing process it is not a very good idea to put pressure on the piercing like sleeping on your stomach, even if it doesn't hurt because it can cause it to ooze fluids as well as slow the blood circulation and inhibit the healing process.

It was not sore at all after the initial piercing. As long as you follow the care instructions correctly, you wont have a problem. I also used a salt-water & citric acid healing/cleansing spray that helped it heal significantly faster and better. Most people use something that I believe is called H20 or something along those lines. Mine was manufactured by another tattoo shop. It was a sample and worked very well.

Its been a few months since Ive gotten it done, It still looks great, a little hard to shave around but you learn how to get a clean shave eventually. I love it.
