First of all, don't try this at home kids if you're not prepared to take full responsibility if anything goes wrong.

I have pierced myself before. I have pierced my ear lobes 4 times and my navel once, and never had any problems with infection and things of that nature. I have always liked doing things on my own, and never thought that I would be one to "hurt" myself in such a manner, but I think this is just one of those things I would like to do alone. Now don't get me wrong, I like my piercer and he does a wonderful job every time I go. For some reason I get really turned on by even the thought of being helpless in someone else's control... when he's got the clamps in one hand and the needle in the other, and the anticipation that you know just what he's about to do... Anyway... My piercer has done my nipples, my right tragus, my labret, my ear lobes and my tongue, and I've watched him work a couple of times too, but this kind of piercing is just a little too personal, and not that I don't trust him, but I'd rather not have him poking around down there!

I had been planning on piercing my hood for quite a while, like six months. I had liked the look of a VCH, but still found it too common. I wanted something different. Then, after studying my anatomy, marking at countless different positions and angles, I decided I wanted to have two piercings, at an angle so that the two bottom balls of the barbells would almost be touching and resting directly on my clitoris, and the top balls would be about one centimeter apart.

I had purchased needles, the appropriate jewelry(two 6mm/16 gauge curved barbells), surgical gloves, sterile swabs and pads, and sterile lubricant (my mom's a medic). The only thing I was missing was the nerves to actually go ahead with the procedure.

So one day, while I had the house to myself for the evening, I suddenly think to myself: This is it! I'm doing it!

I gather up all I need.. my needles and jewelry, antibacterial Dial, a mirror to see what I'm doing of course, gloves, swabs and pads, lubricant, alcohol and alcohol swabs, a clean towel, kitchen roll, Anbesol for just in case, and most important.. my Perrier!

"Well here we go!" I wrap the towel in kitchen roll (to make it cleaner), place it on the floor, and I sit on it. I wash my hands with the soap, and put on a pair of gloves. I unwrap the needles, the jewelry, the dry pads, and the alcohol swabs. Then I change my gloves and start cleaning myself with one of the alcohol swabs and OUCH! That Hurts!! Oh My God, that burns! Ok, so I'll never do that again! Ha ha! So then I wait for the burn to subside, then I wash myself with sodium chloride irrigation that I had used as a saline solution for cleaning other piercings in the past. Ok, so I change my gloves, and I mark myself with an alcohol based marker. I change my gloves again and I grab one of the needles, lube it, aim it where I wanted it to go, and that's when I started shaking! Ha ha!

So I took a little break, had a few sips of Perrier and concentrated on my breathing, all the time laughing at myself! Of course, I'm too stubborn to stop now, I will be pierced.. tonight! So I took another deep breath and changed my gloves again. I picked up the needle again, got it right where it needed to go, and I pretty much just slowly slid it in with almost no resistance from the bottom up.. Well kind of from the bottom up, since they're at an angle. Wow! That wasn't so scary after all! The jewelry fit perfectly inside the flat end of the needle, so it just slipped in and I screwed on the top ball. Then I changed my gloves and did the same on the other side: lube, aim, slide, slip and screw.

It bled a bit, but that's what I was expecting since I am quite a bleeder. I had forgotten how blood is slippery though! I had a little trouble getting the balls on, but otherwise everything was perfect.

I secured a piece of gauze over the piercings with surgical tape for the rest of the night, so that my underwear would not get stained. I cleaned everyting up, and then I sat down, or more like laid down on the couch and watched a movie.

It's been a week and half now, and all the soreness is gone, it was a tiny bit swollen for two to three days, which wasn't all that bad! And I now have a new appreciation for the bumps in my rural road, which had made my new addition, well, very interesting. Luckily I always heal very well though, so I have had no problems at all. Sodium chloride irrigation is my cleaner of choice, always has been and always will be.

I'm going to buy longer bars though, probably 8mm as the bottom balls seem to always want to hide under the hood (now I sound like a vehicle!) I found some really pretty eyebrow banana bells online that would be perfect! I just have to wait two weeks now for them to arrive in the mail.
