It all started one random day a few months ago when I was examining myself for the thirtieth time to see if I may be suitable for the much beloved triangle piercing. After a bit of deliberation I decided that nothing has really changed and it would still be a tight fit. I started to think of other genital piercing options and began poking around to check for them. I noticed that I have the perfect anatomy for a fourchette and that stuck with me.

I decided that I wanted another genital piercing to celebrate/cope/mark a milestone in my life. I went to a local shop that I knew employed only women piercers because I thought it would put me at ease.
I went in and shyly asked about genital piercings. The tattoo artist was a male and started making jokes with me to put me at ease. He covered his ears like a little kid so I could talk about it with Jennifer and not feel uncomfortable. I told Jennifer that I have a 6g vertical hood and would love a horizontal hood but do not really have the room for both. I mentioned that a fourchette was my next choice just because of my anatomy.
We went back into the studio and I disrobed from the waist down and jumped up on the examination table. She did a bit of poking and prodding and tried to figure out the best piercing for me. She had originally thought that a horizontal hood would be good to start with but once she saw the size of my vertical hood she realized that I just wasn't built for both. So the fourchette it was. She decided that laying down on the table with my legs in the stirrups gave me the most pronounced ridge and would be the best position to pierce me in. Then she simply said, "Sooooo, you just wanna do this now?" and we were on.
She swabbed, clamped, and marked me. The clamps were really not as bad as I expected. They weren't comfortable but I didn't expect them to be due to the tenderness of that area. Although if I could do it all over again, I would want it done freehand. We decided to do the deep breath method and she pierced me on the exhale. Sure it hurt, but it was bearable. Also, before I could really register the pain, it was over. I now had a 12g 3/8" surgical stainless steel captive bead ring in my pants. Before I went out of the studio I asked Jennifer if it is pronounced "four-SHET" because I wanted to be positive that I was pronouncing my new piercing correctly. She confirmed that I was saying it correctly and we had a nice laugh.
When I hopped off the table and took a look I noticed that it looked extremely hot on me. I was and still am very pleased. I was on such an adrenaline high that I felt no discomfort and that lasted quite a few hours. I paid ($65) and tipped ($15) and went on my merry way.
Healing was a trial. I expected it to heal like my hood--which consisted of only a few painless days--but it did not go that way. I used sterile saline solution from the drugstore a few times a day but pretty much left it alone other than that. It took over to a month before it was completely painless.
Thongs were uncomfortable but so were regular briefs. I headed to BME and started reading experiences (all 10 or so of them) and found someone who mentioned men's boxer briefs. They are fantastic for healing.
Then came the issue of sitting down--luckily I work in a job that requires a lot of standing. I stood or laid down pretty much all of the time for a few days because it hurt quite a bit to do otherwise. Sometimes I would forget about it and sit down rather quickly days and was rudely awakened when I felt the familiar pang from my nether regions.
On to the issue of sex... I have only had sex a few times since being pierced. The first couple of times which were about a month after I got the piercing were slightly painful but in a good way (or maybe that is just me). I believe there was a tiny bit of tearing or stretching because I was sore for another few days. But since then everything has gone quite well and there has been no more pain. Soon I will stretch my fourchette to an 8g and that will probably reduce any more possible tearing. I honestly cannot feel a difference as far as stimulation goes but I never expected to. It is purely an aesthetic piercing for me.
Now is the time where I tell you that if you are thinking about this piercing, stop thinking and go for it!
