I was always very apprehensive about piercing anything below my waist, but after having my nipples done for a year and a half, I decided to be adventurous. I looked around online and on BME and found one of the prettiest girl piercings I have ever seen, the Christina. After doing a little research I got a little worried about the pain factor as well as the healing rate, I figured I would talk to the piercer about it and see what knowledge he had about it. The piercing itself is known by a few other names apparently, but he said he did Christina's before and they were usually pierced with a curved barbell because they move more easily with your body rather than a straight barbell, which is what I was hoping to get because I liked the way the curved barbell looks rather than having to change the jewelry later.

Hank works at a very well known tattoo and piercing place, and he did my right tragus awhile ago, so I figured it shouldn't be too big of a deal. He was very professional and through about the whole procedure, explained how to clean and take care of it, and a lot of minor details involving genital piercings and answered all my questions.
I was worried that it would get roughed around too much during sex, I have heard other people talk about the rejection rate of this piercing as well, but he said I should just take care of it and my body will decide to accept it or not. I was also frightened about the pain factor. My nipples didn't hurt nearly as much as I figured they would, and the only body modification that actually hurt while being done was the tattoo on my ankle, since it is so close to the bone. Naturally, piercings give a little "ouch" here and there, but the piercer said that it shouldn't hurt more than any other typical genital piercing. Plus I usually get myself so worked up before a body mod that once it is actually done, I don't know what I was so worked up over.
After about 10- 15 minutes of explaining to me all the details and whatnot, I was ready and very excited. I am a shy girl, as I think most girls are when it comes to showing your junk to someone you don't know all that well, so I shyly undressed on bottom and hopped onto the table which had stirrups on it, giving me flashbacks to scary doctor's visits. He showed me the jewelry and needles as he took them out of new and clean bags and told me to lay down once he marked the spots where the piercing would go. I kept getting up to see what he was doing, basically because I was so excited and nervous and wanted to see what he was doing. He told me to lie down and to start the breathing exercises...and after a little anticipation, I could very much feel the needle go through. It hurt a lot for a very brief moment and then he put the jewelry in which was painless. I was so excited to look, and after he cleaned it up a bit, he gave me a mirror and let me see my new Christina. I was so thrilled! I kept saying how super hot it was and he agreed, I was proud of myself to have the balls to finally get a genital piercing.
I had the typical major adrenaline rush afterwards and a felt a little warm down there, which was normal. He reminded me about caring for it and told me no sex or shaving for two weeks, but just to take care of it. I have heard various ways of cleaning genital piercings, especially in the girls area, but he suggested to use dial soap and a jar or cup and add a soap and a lot of water to dilute the soap from being too strong, and use q-tips to clean the area twice a day. Many people like to use salt bathes, or saline, but apparently it is hard to make sure you are not using too much salt, because that will cause more problems than needed. So I trust him enough to realize he knows what he is talking about, plus he has a few genital piercings himself. I think cleaning wise, it all comes down to the person and what works best for them.
I have had it for 3 weeks so far and it is healing well now. For about five days afterwards, I was really sore! I sat around with a hot water bottle in my crotch so sooth it, but it doesn't cause any soreness anymore at all. The only problem I seem to be having lately is the bottom ball gets "sucked into" the piercing hole once and awhile, which is more so annoying then painful to get out again. So I think I will have to change my jewelry or get bigger balls on the end of my barbell. But I still prefer a barbell to a ring, which I noticed a few people have used for this beautiful piercing.
So if you are considering this piercing, I suggest it. It is the most beautiful genital piercing a girl can have, in my opinion. And if pain is a big issue with you, of course it will hurt a bit, but not nearly as bad as you think, plus the adrenaline rush afterwards and the pretty new piercing is very worth it.
