I had my 'christina' done on Feb 4, 1999. It was a really good experience. Sean at VisionQuest in Lubbock, TX did it. It did not bleed and didn't hurt near as bad as my nipples did.I called around the shops in town to see if this was a popular idea. No one had heard of it and Sean was the most excited on the phone about it. I shaved and went in that night.
Of course my questions were pain level, healing time and risks. Sean was very honest and direct. He told me genital peircings don't hurt as bad as other areas. Surface-to-surface, which is what mine is, take longer to heal and risk rejection or migration, and genital peircings vary on healing time. He told me the 'christina' would probably be about 3-6 months and he was right. He told me that, depending on my healing process, I could change out the jewelry between 4-6 weeks.
I was concerned about transmission of other nasty viruses and bacteria. He showed me everything wrapped in sterile wrappers. He showed me his autoclave and everything in his studio was very clean. I felt more at ease.
I wanted to get pierced and not with something or somewhere else everyone else was doing - tongue, face, navel. And I just had this THING for getting it where I did. I had considered getting my nipples pierced for 3 years and for some reason getting a genital piercing was much easier to decide on.
This peircing is rare - or was in my area - and I dubbed it an 'exxxray'. But now I see it has a name.
Sean took his time and explained everything he was doing. I asked about his experiene in peircing and was impressed. We discussed genital peircing and he was very knowledgeable about it and not afraid to talk about it or share experiences.
I sat up for the procedure. Sean made me sit and stand. He marked me with a marker and measured for centering and height. We selected the jewelry. He sterilized me with Betadyne, measured again, marked and pierced with a stainless 12ga 7 3/8th ring. No blood, no pain. He used calipers. I was a little nervous but not too bad.
He peirced - just a twinge of pain. My husband gave me that look of 'did it hurt?' and I told him, "it felt like a needle being driven through my flesh." I was sore for about 30 mins afterward, but really had no problems at all with it. THe most 'uncomfortable thing' was every one in the shop coming up to look at it. :) Then they took pictures.
For about a week afterward it was sore to the touch. I wore loose clothing. But within two weeks, it was great. No crusties, no blood. Moved about freely.
5 weeks later I traded the ring for curved barbell.
Absolutely no problems what so ever and no pain with the switch-out.
It does get a little inflamed after a hot and heavy session, but I clean it every day with liquid Dial ANti-bacterial and every now and then douse it in saline solution.
I do think that it has moved out some - 'migration'. But I and Sean expected this. He said that this might happen. But it's been almost a year now and everything is settled.
It doesn't really do anything for intensifying actual physical sexual pleasure, but it is a great turn on visually.
Did both nipples on June 26, 1999. This was intense pain. I have a high tolerance to pain and enjoy it - so peircing is good for me - and this was intense pain. The left one was first and it made me break a sweat. I had Wade at Inkfluence Tattoos clinch the calipers tighter for the right one and it didn't hurt as bad. I was sore for about a week. Then after that things have been fine. Nips get a little sore every now and then, but nothing bad.
Again, Dial ANti-Bacterial every day and saline every now and then. If I detect any signs of infection, I use a small amount of Mycitracin ointment and it clears things up.
My concerns on nipple peircing were scarring and breast feeding. But after I made the final decision that I was not going to have kids, this was a moot point. Also, after getting off so much on the visual aspect of myine down below, I couldn't wait to do my nipples. I also feared the keloid scarring aspect, but so far so good. ANd no rejection or migration - another added bonus.
Becuase the left one hurt so bad, I almost didn't do both. But I was convinced that if I didn't do both at the same time I might regret it.
I have not regretted any of my piercings. I totally love them. I want more.
I love peircing - love it love it love it.
Love your site too. Keep up the great work and dedication!!
